Blu Ray ribbon on 160gb ps3

I've used the repair guide for replacing the blu ray drive on a ps3 slim and its been great up to re-assembly. The guide is for a 120gb model which has a different disk drive layout.

My model (160gb) has the main ribbon directly underneath the drive (instead of with the rest of the leads on the side) and Im completely stumped over how to re-attach it, due to its short length the drive is too close to the rest of the unit for me to get my hands in or see what im doing.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I had the same problem. When you pull out the ribbon gently it will give you more slack.

This is possible because the blu-ray carrier slides a bit on its guides. Don't pull to hard.

This will give you more room to attach it to the conector on the mainboard.

If you can't give it more slack then open the cover of the blu-ray player and place de blu-ray carrier in the middle of the two guides. Good luck.

Lift up the front a little or the back, use a flat head to push up the both sides of the clamp on motherboard on the back side of the laser Lens ribbon at the socket, repeat backwards to replace.. Hope this helps
