Wont turn on and wont charge

Ive recently bought a phone off of a friend because he got an updated phone. It was very flat so i plugged the charger in and it was charging all good, but then i began taking a picture and editing it for a good 5 minutes.

It shutdown on me all while the charger was in it

It went immediately dead and has not reacted at all to the charger since.

(I havent put a SIM card in it yet)

Ive tried pulling the battery out and putting it back in, Putting the charger in before the battery and I have no idea what to do next. Can anyone help?
