Can't get out ,what's the best solution to put SSD drive

My Imac is from Early 2008, Intel based CPU.

I am consulting allready some guides for change my HD by a SSD , Is it possible in this model ? I read somewhere that the SSD can not mounted even with a adapter because the cables are too short in the Imac.

Can someone guide top a good solution. I am able to change or remove the optical drive and put the original HD in the optical bay . And put a ssd in the original place where the HD was before. So is this possible and what do I need to buy from hardware (except the SSD)

Thanks For help

Not sure I follow your comment of the cables being to short here. If you do a direct swap out HD for SSD there is no cable issues as both use SATA and have the connections in the same location (using a SSD that is the same size as your HD). If you go with a 2.5 SSD then you can have some issues as the SSD SATA port is located in a slightly different place.

In any case I would use a dual drive setup - keeping the HD for data storage and using the SSD for OS & App storage. I wouldn't setup a Fusion drive here as the I/O of the drives is not matched (you'll have access & speed problems trust me!)

Follow this IFIXIT guide Dual HD (or SSD) install. In this case you're using a SSD Vs an HD as the guide was written with the idea of adding a second HD.

As to what to use for a SSD your systems SATA connection is only SATA I (1.5Gb/s) so you should stick with a SATA I (1.5Gb/s) or SATA II (3.0Gb/s) SSD for your primary drive, then moving your HD to the PATA carrier (SATA to PATA). Getting a SATA III SSD could create problems and is a waste of money as your system can't leverage the higher I/O speed.

According to everymac.com the early 2008's used SATA II not SATA I
