How hard is it to replace the logic board?
How hard is it to replace the logic board on a mid-2011 27" iMac? My local Apple Authorized Service location wants $1,700 to replace it! I think I can get the part from eBay for around $600, but it comes without the CPU. Is that hard to swap out?
Questa è una buona domanda?

Why do you need to swap out the logic board?

Dan, The computer was freezing sporadically, and now it no longer boots at all. I took it to my local Apple Authorized Service location and they charged me $60 to tell me that it needs a new logic board.
I have swapped hard drives in my old MacBookPro, so I think I can tackle this if it's not much different. My real question concerns the CPU. I can buy a used logic board on eBay here, http://bit.ly/12wJRQs, but I need to know if swapping out the CPU is easy or hard. Does it sit in a socket? Or is it soldered to the logic board?

As to your problem of the system freezing up can you explain more fully what happens. You might have a problem that may not need a new logic board to fix.

I know this is outdated but there is a lot of misinformation regarding macs and the the ability to upgrade them. My Mid 2011 is running 32GB ram, an upgraded processor from 2.7Ghz i5 (i5-2500S) to 3.4Ghz i7 (i7-2600) at 38*C which was not soldered and a dual drive (hd/sdd) fusion drive setup with the optical drive still installed. The upgrades were fairly straight forward, it just takes a little bit of time and patience.
This video gets you most of the way there:
