MacBook Pro system upgrade now stuck on boot
I have a Macbook Pro (not sure the year but can find out) that I got from my brother because he fried the firewire connection on the motherboard which shorted out one of the processors (I think but he says it has a back up it uses) and it takes so long to be ready to use it has to start up then go into screensaver for 15 mins then it works fine.
I decided that it I should upgrade the system software I downloaded Mountain Lion and restarted it but it has been stuck on start up (the grey screen and spinning wheel) for 9 hours now. I am hesitant to shut it down because i know its hardware is not sound and will leave it on all night.
I dont want to make an apt with genius bar because of it taking so long to boot up and it doesn't have apple care. Please give me some advice on what to do next.
