Can not get pass the question mark folder
One day the computer would not boot beyond the “?” folder. I install a new hard drive and nothing changed.
The computer (MacBook 2.0 Core Duo U9C) will only boot to the question mark folder and it will not show up on another machine when booted in Target Mode. It will boot from and external hard drive or the optical drive. Also the hard drive does not show in Disk Utilities or DiskWarrior only on this Mac. I seem to be getting power to the hard drive as it is spinning, but nothing seems to be returning from the hard drive. Unless someone here has something that I may have overlooked I am assuming it is disconnection somewhere in the logic board.
Here is what I have done so far…
1. Reset the Pram
2. Reset the SMC
3. Reset the EFI
4. Changed hard drives
5. Changed the hard drive cable
6. Installed a new OS (Leopard) via a USB hard drive
7. Cleaned the contacts on the board and hard drive cable
8. Ran the Hardware Test from the original (Tiger) DVD
9. Ran Tech Tool test
Thanks all for reading.
Update
Lemerise, I think you are right on with the "SATA circuit" because everything else works just fine.
Questa è una buona domanda?
What was the problem with the "old" disk drive ? Could you try a another known working drive in the macbook ? I would suspect the hard drive cable even if it was replaced. The new one could be faulty otherwise the macbook sata circuit is the culprit and that means a logic board replacement.
