Water Dripping Sound MBP 13" mid 2012

Hi guys. i have MBP 13 entry level (non retina)

my mbp has a water dripping sound (also sounds like "tok" / "tik" or "click"). my laptop fell from a knee level height from my bed. bottom facing the floor. (accidents do happen)

it makes the sound every two minute or so. its random. sometimes 3-5minutes. what would be the causing problem? ive research a bit and read that it might be the hard drive. it never hangs / lags when i use it even when playing. please help me. will switch to SSD if the problem is the HDD. but if it can be fix. way better. thanks

The only real moving parts inside that laptop are:

HDD (Spinning metal disk + reader = could make that sound if it was reading when dropped and the spindle became damaged)

Fans (Possibly making sound from failing motor or bad bearings (if they have bearings)

Optical Drive (If there was a disc in it when you dropped it you may have damaged the internal housing, and the intermittent noises you hear could be from the computer randomly spinning up the drive)

For testing purposes I would stick a disc into the optical drive, let it read for a bit see if you can recreate the sound. If not stick your ears up to the fans and have a good listen, if nothing there, I would look at the HDD. You don't need to have hangups for the HDD to be giving you those sounds, even though its likely that you should.

Good luck.

thanks sir flogo. will try your suggestions when i get home after work. ill try first the optical drive, i drop it without disk. but will try this first. next is the sound. by hearing it i think it comes from right infront side. (when using laptop) but will take a good listen to make sure. thanks again and will let you know what happens.

The sound that you are describing sounds like the sound a mac makes when you change the volume, maybe it may be damaged or sticky volume keys?

Ahh! I'm having the same thing now on an older mac pc. But it's also making this weird intermittent chicken sound. Like 'berrrrrreh' hahaha that's the closest I can come to typing it out. And also the water droplet sound…..over and over and then eventually my computer freezes up while scanning film annnddd….I have to stop the operations. It's crap. Don't know what to do, but I'm reading the previous info and help and hmm..I may try something. Thanks.
