LCD panel replacement with different (A2)(C1)(C2)... indexes

I have a broken LCD panel on my imac 27 late 2009, which needs replacement. I disassembled LCD and its' name has an (A2) index at the end: LM270WQ1(SD)(A2) . I found the same panel, with the same name in the internet, but it has a (C1) index: LM270WQ1(SD)(C1) (Mid 2010).

Can my LCD from late 2009 with A2 index be replaced with the same panel but with C1 index, mid 2010? Are they compatible?

I have the same exact issue I am facing right now. I found a replacement LCD for my iMac 2009 A1312 27". The original LCD is: LM270WQ1 (SD)(A2) The replacement I want to buy is: LM270WQ1 (SD)(C2) Will I be ok or will I also need to swap the control board?

Here's what I found specific to your case dated May 10, 2011: the C1 can now be found.

As with everything hardware with newer Apple stuff, lack of info means it's done the hard way or not at all. I've done it the hard way so you don't have to. The newer part number for the mid 2010 iMac screen doesn't even exist on the internet yet. (until now)

27" Late 2009 Core Duo uses LG screen LM270WQ1 (SD) (A2)

27" Mid 2010 i3, i5, i7 all use LM270WQ1 (SD) (C1)

The difference is NEARLY none, except one single thing. They changed 1 plug for no apparent reason but to screw with you. The part numbers on the controller boards are the same, everything else is the same. They simply changed the connector. It's not stronger, bigger, nor better suited, it's just "different".

You may notice the (A2) screen is beginning to pop up a few good places now, but the (C1) screen doesn't even exist on google. ......at all.

To remedy this if you have to replace the screen, buy the (A2) screen and swap the controller board in question with your old one.

The board with the WHITE PLUG is the Late 2009 Core DUO.

The board with the BLACK plug is the Mid 2010 i3,i 5, i7.

This plug can be seen in the pics below in the first picture the plug is closest to you in pic #1, small, and it is a 4 pin plug to the right of the copper square.

This board is dead center at the top rear of your LG 27" screen. It's only about a 5 minute job.

This worked! I swapped the controller boards while replacing my 2010 display panel (SD)(C1) with the (SD)(A2) display from a 2009 iMac. It took *slightly* more than 5 minutes, but since I was already committed to the project, time was irrelevant.

The controller board was under the aluminium shield on the backside of the panel, and was connected via two short, wide, flat ribbon cables. The ribbon cables can be released from their connectors by pulling up gently on the housing which grips the cable. I did this with the edge of my fingernail, in the gap between the ribbon cable and the long edge of the connector which holds it in place. There are probably other tools which are more specialised for this manoeuvre, but I used what was convenient at-hand. ;)

Thanks for the tip!

Good morning: I have a similar problem.  My original screen says LM270WQ1 (SD) (C2).  I have found a screen at a good price, the same reference but (A2).  Could you change the controller board?

Thanks,

Best regards from Spain.
