No service after LCD replacement. Constantly searches

Hi everyone. I recently changed the LCD on my iphone 4S. I took a lot of care when doing this and the logic board seems to be in great condition with everything else working, inlcluding the speakers, touch screen and wifi. But I can not get any signal from the sim card even though the iphone can register the sim card details, and says no sim card installed when I take it out.

I have tried a lot of the solutions people have suggested on here. I have cleaned all the metal contacts with alcohol, made sure the connectors are properly connected (well atleast I think they are) and even bought a new antenna, a new chassis, but nothing seems to have worked.

Im really racking my head over this now, can someone please give me some advice about what to do. Should I get rid of the phone or try resetting it again. Connect it to Itunes and restore again.

Ive realised the emergency call didnt work, so would that suggest it is an antenna issue??

Any help at this point would be really greatful.

Regards

Mark

Same problem here aswell. It seems like the blue coil is still there, but i tried to use this conductive liquid silver with a syringe, but it didnt help much. SIM card is fine. I've read countless of posts but none have solved my problem yet

Mark Kingsley, as Ali and Alex have already pointed out, you are missing your inductor. what you are looking at is schematic number L47_RF a 5.6NH+/-0.2NH-470MA inductor manufactured by MURATA. Part number isLQW04AN5N6D00D available right here wit part number 81-LQW04AN5N6D00D The physical dimension are 0.8mm long, 0.4mm wide and 0.4mm high. This is not a part that should be repaired with a soldering gun. This needs either a hot air soldering station or a very fine soldering tip, a steady hand and good magnification source. It may just be easier to use a circuit writer to just close the circuit from one point to the next. Hope this helps, good luck.

Oldturkey, thank you for the advice. it is greatly appreciated. think I will get a circuit writer and see how that goes. will update this feed when I have more news on how it has gone on.

Again many thanks

Update

Hi Mark

You can bridge the 2 points where the blue coil used to be, if you look at the link which i orignally mentioned you can see where the blue chip and your is it missing, just bridge these points together

please note you do this at your own risk

Ali

I'll post the comment here so I can add a picture :)

The time wil also reset to 01.00. You have to set the clock as well.

As Ali said, check the little blue inductor coil. On 4S, you find it here:

By the look of it, this blue chip has fallen off somehow. what would be the best thing to do now? solder the motherboard at two specific points?? I actually have a solder gun and could do it. just some advice would be great

As iwillfix mentions: You must set the time and date...

If you take you the batteri on a iPhone with iOS 6.x.x the time and date will be wrong. The phone think it's in 1970.... If you set time and date manually, take out the sim and put it back in the phone get signal again :)

Just set the time and date back to automatic :)

@Courtney Bergin, check the comment the OP left for "alex" It says "By the look of it, this blue chip has fallen off somehow. what would be the best thing to do now?" That is the missing inductor I referred to in my answer. Did you check yours?
