No power, warm upper circuit board, not recognized in itunes

I replaced an iPod touch 4 LCD assembly for somebody and when I went to turn it on for the first time, it would not boot up. I didn't even get a black/white screen. I changed out the headphone jack (red indicator), swapped the battery, changed the power/volume ribbon, changed out the home button flex. Everything looks good, but no power.

Plug into computer to attempt a restore. The computer (Windows 7) recognizes that I plugged something in but doesn't know what (unknown device). I held the power and home buttons to force hard reboot, drivers not successfully installed. Windows is kicking out code 43-Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. One time I also got code 29-This device is disabled because the firmware of the device did not give it the required resources. I ran the diagnostics in iTunes and it came up with no iPod, iPhone, iPad plugged in.

The iPod is VERY warm in the region where the flex cable is soldered to whenever plugged it/attempted to be turned on (even after I De-soldered the flex and plugged into computer). I spoke to somebody at a repair shop and they said that area of the circuit board should not get warm.

I don't know what else could be wrong with it, but need to figure this out asap so I don't have to buy them a new iPod. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Let me know if any additional information would be helpful.

Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit PC (up to date-2x different PCs)

iPod touch 4th 8GB (1367)

iTunes version 11.0.1 (current)

If you get error 29 sounds like a problem with the battery. I would resolder the battery making sure to use plenty of flux. If you used a metal tool to pry up on the mid plate then you probably damaged something on the board in that area. Inspect with a microscope and check for burnt spots or rough edges in the solder indicating that it has been touched since melt. If you can replace the glass on oneyou buy a cracked one on ebay for 50 bucks or less now. You wont get anybody to work on the board for 50. Good luck.

Thanks for the response Craig. I've already been looking for broken ones on Ebay, probably going to have to resort to that. I've been using a magnifying glass that i use to solder with and shooting the leads with a multimeter. Can't find good schematics though. I'll keep inspecting, there has to be a short somewhere. I'll keep this post updated, maybe i have some solder splash somewhere. Going to also try isopropyl alcohol and fiberglass pen to clean board, unless you think that could make it worse. Thanks again.
