Display not working properly after hard fall on upper left corner

The device seems to be working, it mounts when USB is plugged, but display is definitely not working properly anymore:

It's probably not the cable in this case, problem often seen on the forum, it rather sounds like graphic memory or graphic card itself broken. (I have an old mac that has similar display problems, but you can make sense of what is displayed behind the colored lines.)

Thanks for giving me a hand in diagnostic and fixing possibilities.

It looks like a bad LCD, that's what I would change first, and for me that's easy because I stock the LCD and can change it out as a test, for you it would cost around 50.00 for the gamble, that being said, you might take it to an apple certified store and see how much they would charge to plug into it and do diagnostics, if they say it is the LCD and your at all techy, replacing the LCD is something you should be able to tackle, you will want to order a wifi antenna and new adhesive for the digitizer with the LCD because it is really tough to remove the Digitizer without damaging it, good luck.

thanks Mitch. I'm wondering if LCD is really what's broken since it displays things. I'd rather guess it's the thing that sends what to display that is broken here. It's a good idea to bring it to an apple store or a repair store to get an opinion.

I would vote again on the LCD, in my experience when the screen is bad they distort or go black, if it's an inner component, in my experience, they either work or not, always exceptions though, good luck, keep me posted.

Mitch, where do you find an LCD at 50.00? I can only find it on dealrepairs at a much higher price. cheers

Mitch, I gave up fixing it myself as I found a Chinese guy willing to fix it for the equivalent of $80US. It was indeed the LCD. I'm not sure how the guy did it, but he seemed confident he'd not have to replace the wifi antenna... thanks for the help

Mitch - How do I contact you about getting my iPad2 fixed. Same problem. The display is gone, but I can hear the machine come on and chirp and chime and do all the things it would do if the whole device were on. I am looking forward to hearing from you.
