after a screen replacement, my laptop does not know the difference in when its open and when its closed! I have taken this laptop apart numorous times with no luck in even locating the pressure switch. I need this to be functioning to hook up a external display and use the external display as the only display! please help.

Did you forget the magnet in the lid assembly? Check Step 52

Yes. I just checked. the Magnet on the left side of the assembly in still in its place. as are the 4 on the top.
