Domanda Chiusa

What's the best way to reassemble the top/bottom pieces?

Sometimes the sticky stuff that apple puts on there isn't enough to hold the top and bottom on, so occasionally I have resorted to using a dab of super glue in order to hold the small white pieces on.

Does anybody else have a better solution to this?

Some very carefully applied rubber cement would probably be the closest solution to what Apple uses. Before applying any rubber cement, be sure to completely remove any old adhesive still present on the bezel and its mounting surface on the iPod. Apply a very thin layer of rubber cement to the inner face of the bezel and the face that the bezel rests against. Give the rubber cement a few minutes to dry, then stick the bezel into its recess. The beauty of this is that rubber cement holds well, but also can be easily removed for later repairs.

It kind of depends on whether or not you want to get back into it... if it's a one time fix, I wouldn't have any problem with super glue. I've also used just regular Elmers glue to put pieces back on hardware, but only if the glue is nowhere near a circuit.

I agree that rubber cement would probably work best. Does anyone have a specific brand recommendation? How about the amount to use and best method to apply the glue without getting it where it shouldn't be like in the dock connector on the bottom or the lock switch on the top. Several other Apple products could use a bit of rubber cement when reassembling.
