Flashing lines and colors after screen replacement.

After replacing my iPhone 4s screen, everything seems to be working, from wifi to phone calls, except the screen displays rapidly flashing colors and lines and moves around quite a bit. I was very careful with the digitizer and other logic board connectors and made sure they were firmly in place and undamaged. Should I go back and try to reseat them or is theres something else I can do? Thanks

In my experience this means bad conection or you've damaged the LCD screen this is usually done due to wrong screw in wrong hole, it really does not take much to damage these LCD screens.

Dude(and everyone with the same problem) the same happened to me, in fact the image was normal at the beginning, 2 min after "poof" color lines everywhere. In my case I suppose my new LCD screen is faulty since I have pride and can´t admit I did the assembly in the wrong way.

To any of you who are desperate, you should be, I still didn't fix the problem, but the best course of action that I thought for me and you after searching forums, bla, bla, etc... is:

Ordering a new screen and BENCH test it(like assortedrubbish said), this will allow you to know 100% at the beginning if the screen is good, and after the assembly if it's bad you will know 100% that you fuc*** up. To bench test it, what you have to do is simple, only take out the rear case> disconnect the battery>disconnect the display screen cables>connect the cables from the new display screen>connect the battery>and check if the new screen display is good. If it's good, do the full display assembly with the new screen, and at the end if the screen doesn't work it's because you made some mistake.

Note: What everyone concludes when this happens is that the new screen is bad, but in reality there is two conclusions the screen is bad or it was human error which is perfectly normal cause the display can be ruined just by bending the display cables a little too much.

I just feel sorry that I didn't even thought of bench testing the screen first, cause now I will have to waste the same amount of time when assembling a new screen again...

I have the same problem with my iPhone after putting a different screen on. In my case it was the manufactures fault. Ask for a new one or your money back. I did and my new one is on the way.

Odd answers given here :-( Its really really bad for people to keep leaving answers that are just a base level vague guess at something they heard from a man in the street lol.

Dave, there ain't any screws in the iphone range that go in the direction of the LCD, and are long enough to reach let alone do any damage. Plus you can have the phones working as with most things without even having screws in anywhere - many engineers do bench tests before a rebuild - especially on an item with 30+ intricate 2mm screws.

CydiaAddict, what on ear use is this text ? Why not wait, get the part, then let readers know if it actually did or didnt fix it ? Saying a part is on order? well that's about as much use as me saying I wear slippers, and they go on my feet somewhere. Nothing to add, no information to gain :-(

The iphone 4s i'm now fixing is having a flickering unreadable screen, but a 2nd new screen from a different supplier didn't fix the problem. Neither did contact cleaning/reseating, cable replacing, master reset or anything else I could find. Ive bookmarked this question in here though and will reply as soon as I have something definite to help with. I hate iphones lol, far too fragile and expensive. I'll stick with my standard mobiles :-D

SOLVED

Had the same issue.

Its the digitiser cable. Not being pressed down adequately.

Open the phone and disconnect and reconnect the cables again. Not all the pins are pushed down adequately that's why you have multiple colours.

I was able to reproduce this.

so problem solved.

Somebody advised me to drain out the battery and charge it again. Hope that would fix my problem. Working on it :-(

Same problem on my daughters 4s after I changed out the screen. I think I will go get some dielectric grease and throw a dab of that on the screen contacts and try to reseat. I hope that fixes it.

will update with my results.

I re-seated the cable connectors and I add a dab of dielectric grease to the contacts. That did help with the problem.

Hey everyone,

The same thing has been happening to me for months now. The screen will have vertical lines (usually grey/green), only glow blue, or have a white ring in the center of the screen. I finally adjusted my screen brightness to a slightly lower level and haven't had a problem since! Fingers crossed this will continue.

I hope this works for some/all of you :)
