iPhone Soldering Practice Advice?

I am teaching myself how to solder and i am at a point of being comfortable trying on smaller things such as iPhone LCD connector and the 3 FPC connector for example.

Problem is i don't want to go guns blazing on a working phone.

Is there anything i can use thats cheap and wont matter if i miss it up that simulates doing it for real?

For example buying the 3 FPC connector and finding a board with the same pins to practise soldering it on?

Why not just start off by working on other logic boards? cheaper broken ones:-) If you need a cable 4th gen photo or 5th gen boards, let me know. Have plenty of those to play with;-)

those are iPod logic boards. they do have plenty of SMD components as well as FPC connectors:-)

Online in various websites they sell soldering practice kits of varying degrees of difficulties you can usually snag one for $25 with shipping. Or you can snoop craigs list for a broken down wreck and buy it cheap. I go to thrifts stores and buy the old cells that way for even cheaper.

I began practicing on a broken laptop wifi card. The chips and connectors are of similar size. There are also many different ways of doing the solder especially on the iphone since everything is so compact. Certain materials are recommended as well such as a no clean flux, desoldering alloy. You can also use a stencil for connectors with soldering paste and heat gun. Contact me if you need more information
