Speakers and head phones not working?

I have formatted macintosh HD and installed windows7 ultimate. After some time i noticed that there is no sound without headphones. I googled and found out that drivers are ok and the reason i red lght in a headphone jack.

I have used toothstick to put back sensor located at 3'o clock (it was deeper than another two). However that button has fallen deeper inside(so i cant get it out) and red light didnt disappear. Now both headphones and speakers dont work.

Please tell what i can do myself if not bringing it to repairing center.

As a workaround use a USB external Audio Adaptor. The USB Audio is separate from the headphone and speaker jacks.

Nope - It takes lots of special skills & tools to desolder/replace/repair logic board components, not for the average DIYer.

It does sound like the headphone port is damaged/faulty, however it's kind of lucky that you have an iMac rather than a laptop as this is a relatively cheap part and relatively easy repair.

The audio board / cable can be replaced easily after removing the glass & LCD panel from the machine. It's a very quick and easy repair for seasoned technicians, I'm sure it is quite do-able for non-technicians as well.

iFixit Guide

I dug around iFixit's iMac parts and couldn't find the cable / board that you would need, or a compatible substitute. I did however find several at other Mac part vendors by searching for "21.5 iMac audio i/o cable" on google. I'd rather not post a link but seeing how these are competitors, however I'm sure you can find one if you do a small bit of searching. I would expect to pay between $20-$50 for the part.

Best of luck!
