Replacing the LCD the new digitizer cable seems to be too short.

I'm in the process of replacing the LCD with one that I bought on ifixit. During the reassembly (on step 15 of the guide) the Digitizer Cable won't reach it's place on the logic board. I've taken it back apart and started over and it still won't reach. The Digitizer Cable comes already attached to the new LCD assembly. Is it possible that it came too short? Is there something that can be done.

Please help, the longer it stays torn apart the more difficult it will be to put back together. I'm attaching two photos.

I have the same problem too, I`ve took my 4s phone to bits 3 times, no cables nipped or anything but still too short about 1mm. anyway looking at it carefully it seems like its nipped in-between the front glass and the digitizer and pulling it might damage it. so when all comes to all its the people who make em its there fault...SEND IT BACK. Google images on ribbon lengths there is a difference.

Once the cables are correctly pulled through the housing, the cables should be the same length.

I took it back apart (again) and found the Digitizer Cable was folded in half and stuck to the other cable. Problem solved and I just got the phone back together. It works!

When reinstalling the display assembly, be sure the digitizer and display data cables are completely pulled through the slot cut into the outer case before pressing the display assembly down into the outer case. Failure to do so will cause the digitizer cable to not reach its socket on the logic board.

Super common mistake, GUYS DO NOT PULL ON THE CABLE!!! IT WILL BREAK AND YOU WILL BE LEFT WITH A USELESS SCREEN! Follow what everyone above is saying, be patient and make sure it's not being pinched in the back.

I can confirm the cable will tear ... right off if you are not careful!

First time I put the display back in it looked too short, so i retraced my steps and realised it had been folded over. I went through the process again and very carefuly made sure the cable was not pinched but as i moved it to plug it in the cable broke clean in two! :( It must have got pinched pretty hard on my first attempt. These cable ribbons are pretty delicate, certainly more delicate than me!

You live and learn i suppose!

Same ..my cable won't reach and is not trapped, folded etc :-(

Ya that just happened to me on my sisters phone. not folded or pinched. it just happened.

Get a cocktail stick and gently prize the top open the digitizer cable already has a fold hence it sticks press down the fold and push the screen home so both ribbons go through at the same time. You will get what i mean simples DONT PULL OR A NEW SCREEN WILL BE NEEDED IT TEARS SO EASY. Sorry for the language frustration lol
