iPhone XS: iPhone XS lags and reboots - After water damage repair

Hi i’ve got an iPhone XS that got water damaged in the top killing the light sensor. i’ve managed to make run the phone by disconnecting the flex cable of the earpiece from the motherboard. However vibrations weren’t working and the phone was laggy sometimes freezing on apps launching and multitasking and it also had an annoying volume problem ( the volume rose to max on its own ). However i’ve bought a new charging port flex and installed it yesterday. now the phone has audio and vibrations working and no more audio bug, but somehow lags and freezes crashing. i’ve figured out that camera is not working good , especially the telephoto camera which could not launch. i’ve disconnected all the cameras ( front 3 module flexes and the 2 rear flexes ) and now it seems to work very very fast , like brand new without freezing at all. the point is that it sometimes reboots randomly ( after a crash ) and i’ve noticed it does not charge ( I plug the charging cable and it charges but after rebooting it does not charge at all ) , i’ve left it yesterday charging and this morning I found it charged zero.

What could be the problem for this?? Damaged battery??? i’ve noticed that the battery is not very nice but it is still fine.

Ill link two links of a video where all the flexes are connected and it lags and another where I disconnect the camera and it runs smooth

iPhone XS: Dropped phone now gps wifi cellular reception bad

Yesterday my iPhone XS dropped on the street. It was in a case and had a glass screen protector that took a hit. The phone it self does not have any visible damage.

Since then the GPS, WIFI and cellular reception is/feels bad. It works but it not as good as before. Most notable was the GPS: While driving it was always severeal meters behind or the blue dot was placed next to the street in the field. With wifi and cellullar it is a little bit harder to graps because how looks at the reception when everything works :) but I pretty sure I had full wifi connection in the bathroom that is 3 meters from the wifi router.

I did not open it or anything. I did restart it and despite the bad reception everything seems to be working fine.

So I have two questions:

Is there a way to check the reception with an app or something? I know that Apple can do hardware analysis in the store so I could go there and try to get them to check it for me.

Does someone already have a idea what is broken and how it could be fixed?

iPhone XS: iPhone black after ios 16.5.1 update

Hello. Recently i updated to the newest ios 16.5.1 on my iphone xs. During the update it seemed a bit weird as the screen remained black for a while and did not reboot per the norm. after waiting several minutes thinking maybe it is just taking longer? i finally went to restart it myself and found that it was actually already on. The screen just wouldnt show up. Ever since this, I can force restart and the apple logo will appear as it normally does during startup and then nothing. It just goes black and stays black. The screen itself is working (even touch works since i can hold power and swipe right and it will turn the phone off).

I have tried force restarting, i have tried a full restore through itunes and still nothing. The screen comes on when put into restore mode as well.

Anyone have any similar experiences or have any suggestions? thanks in advance!

iPhone XS: Not responding to touch after screen replacement

I replaced an iPhone XS screen because it was cracked and it was ghost touching. Also replaced the battery because it wasn’t charging. The phone charges now so the battery replacement seems to be a success, but I’m having issues with the display. It turns on fine and the picture looks fine but it doesn’t respond to touch whatsoever. I have checked the connection multiple times and they all are connected properly but nothing I do is working. I have tried force resetting as well and they didn’t do anything.

I’ve replaced iPhone screens before (including an IPhone XS) but I’m still an amateur so I have no idea what else could possibly be wrong with it.

iPhone XS: Dropped iPhone in water, Phone died, Won't charge

So I dropped my phone in a pool last night and it worked on my way home until it died. I tried charging it last night but got the water in lightning port thing so I just thought I’d let it sit and charge it in the morning. I tried charging it this morning and it shows the little battery dead icon and when I plug it in it changes to the one without the cord on it but it will never turn on. Also there is a green strip going down the screen when it shows the battery dead icon. It is there sometimes but goes away sometimes as well. I thought the IPhone XS was water resistant so I didn’t think it was that big of a deal. It was maybe not even a foot underwater. Can I fix this or should I go to a repair store somewhere?

iPhone XS: Will a screen replacement fix glitching, flickering, unresponsiveness?

I dropped my phone from no more than 1 foot off the ground, but it landed at a terrible angle on some rocks and received a chip in the lower right hand corner + a hairline fracture that extends about an inch across the bottom of the screen.

Since then, the screen will almost constantly flicker and glitch, sometimes spontaneously turning black or shutting off. When it’s doing this, it may respond partially to touch or not at all.

(Although, bizarrely, sometimes I’ll go 10-15 minutes without a single screen glitch, like nothing’s wrong at all. But the problem always returns. And it’s worse when the phone is plugged in to charge, which makes no sense to me.)

I had no problems with responsiveness before the drop.

No water damage.

The phone was purchased refurbished, so I can’t be 100% certain it’s the original screen, but it seems to be. (It’s definitely OLED, at least)

The phone is not under Apple warranty or any kind of damage warranty.

I’ve already tried all the easy fixes: soft restart, hard restart, take off the case, take off the screen protector, and apply firm but gentle pressure all around the screen to try to reconnect anything that might’ve been shaken loose.

So the problem is obviously in the hardware (unless, is it worth trying to update the firmware first??). But my question, then, is where exactly is the problem, and would replacing the screen fix it?

What is the exact hardware that senses touch? Digitizer? A bracket on the logic board? Or is it something in the screen itself?

Is there some kind of connector that’s been knocked loose that I need to make sure is intact when I go in to replace the screen?

Is it at all possible that the problem can be fixed without even replacing the screen, but just reattaching or realigning whatever needs to be corrected inside the phone?

Is replacing the screen the next best move?

Thank you so much for any help or advice!

iPhone XS: What is this thing and how do I fix it?

Hi,

This material between the front glass and stainless steel band on my iPhone XS has been damaged from a fall; a bit of it is kinda scraped off. I think JerryRigEverything called it a buffer or something in his durability video for the XS Max. I don’t know if it’s plastic, rubber or composite.

Attached image shows the material I’m talking about. It’s obviously not my phone; I don’t have a camera with me at the moment, sorry..

1) What is this material and what does it do? Is it rubber? Plastic? Composite?

2) How would I go about replacing it? Do I just get a new display? Does it come with a new display? iPhone XS Screen

I have looked all over, inside and out with a magnifying glass, and can't find anything like a model number or name. A friend brought it to me to replace the screen. The tabs on the side don't line up. What is an easy way to discover if this is an X or an Xs?

iPhone XS: Apple Pay not working after frame replacement

I have an iPhone XS. Until recently had original but broken screen and rear glass so I decided to replace them. After moving all the parts over and rebuilding everything works as it should apart from Apple Pay. I’ve been able to add / remove cards etc but it just says hold near reader and doesn’t recognise that one is nearby. I have tested wireless (WiFi), cellular, Bluetooth and wireless charging are all working just not Apple Pay.
