iPhone 7: Where can I find a replacement part for the rear mic on iPhone 7?

My iphone 7 has been acting up. The siri doesn’t work, I cannot take voice memos and when I record videos, it doesn’t record sound with it. I haven’t narrowed the problem down to the tiny mic on the back of the phone in between the camera and flash unit, however, I cannot find a replacement. Any suggestions?

iPhone 7: screen, connector or motherboard issues?

i have a phone that i’m told had a screen replacement but the it stopped working.

i tried that screen on a working phone and it worked fine.
I tried a known working screen on the phone and no display.
when i plug in the charging cord, i can feel the taptic buzz and the audible ding.
when i connected the phone to 3uTools I was able to see that the phone boots, even installed the latest IOS and activated it. so it’s pretty clear the motherboard works.
it appears that even the digitizer works took as i held the power button for 10 seconds then swiped right where the “slide to power off” button appears and 3uTools indicated that there was no longer a phone connected.

i realize this is not enough for a proper diagnosis, but what are your thoughts?
it doesn’t look like it’s anything in the display or display cables.
it seems to read the digitizer.
the connector looks to be in good shape, but that’s hard to say.
if it’s something on the motherboard, what are some of the things it could be? and what’s the difficulty of repairing?

Thanks

iPhone 7: iPhone 7 random reboot behavior

i have an iphone7 with a bad IMEI so i just use as a wifi/tethered device to play games on. I replaced the battery about a year ago.
recently it's been acting a bit weird. all of a sudden it will just show the apple logo and reboot. when it shows the passcode screen, i see only 2% battery, but as soon as i plug in a charger it jumps to 80% (or whatever it was at when it rebooted).
IOS battery health says 100% capacity.
3uTools says 100% capacity and 80 charge cycles.

just wondering if anyone's seen this kind of random reboot weirdness? it's worked pretty much perfectly for well over a year, but rebooted at least 4 times in the last 24 hour.
it hasn't been opened since the battery was replaced.

iPhone 7: iPhone 7 severe battery drain

Hello, I have a 2 year old iPhone 7 which suffers from severe battery drain, the battery drains from 100% to 0% within 4-7 hours while not in use. The battery health is at 83%, so that shouldn’t be an issue. I’ve tried resetting it multiple times, updating to the latest iOS, turning on airplane mode. Nothing helped. Settings shows no apps using the battery. I found that the iPhone draws 140mA from the battery. I also have a 5 year old iPhone 7 with battery health at 77% and it drains from 100% to 0% in like a week. What could cause it?

iPhone 7: iPhone 7 No modem firmware

Hi, my Iphone 7 suddenly started showing “no service” and no number after modem firmware, I went to an affiliated apple store and they told me that it is a common problem where apple has set up a free repair program.

However, my phone was not accepted because there is a small crack on the screen, the size of a grain of rice (which has been there since way before the problem showed up). Their excuse was that it could be “my fault” and is not legible for the repair program.

Of course I bought a new phone, but I still do want to repair this one (for: fun, experience and e-waste reasons). There are some video’s on YT of people doing this, but I would like to follow a manual of some kind.

Is there a place where I can find such manual? Or could someone tell me: what to look for, how to diagnose the problem (burnt chip/capacitor…) and how to replace this with what parts?

Many thanks in advance!

PS: The repair shop offered me a screen fix for €150, then I would be accepted in the repair program, which is ridiculous… ahahah

iPhone 7: Home button and some haptics not working after installing battery

Hi, I replaced a battery on my son’s iPhone 7. The install itself was fine, we had no issues getting the battery replaced and everything reassembled. The phone booted up fine, touchID worked, but the home button does not work (nor do the haptics associated with it). But if I try and the touchID doesn’t accept my thumbprint, then the haptics kick in. So the engine is hooked up properly, it is a home button issue.

I’ve seen this in various forums but no great answer to it. The home button is on the part of the phone that we did not touch significantly. All the cables look fine. We looked for small nicks and kinks and couldn’t find anything. Any other ideas?

iPhone 7: Home button errors continue after a home button replacement

I recently purchased an iPhone 7 which required a battery change due to its age. I had changed the battery on my previous phone (iPhone 6s) and proceeded to do the same with the new phone.

After changing the battery, the home button doesn’t work at all, including 3D touch and touch ID. Reading online, it said that the most likely issue was due to ripping the home button flex cable, therefore, I ordered a replacement home button to return the functions (apart from Touch ID).

After replacing the home button purchased from Amazon, no functions had returned and it was still unusable. This has got me thinking that the issue is not with the home button itself but a different connector within the phone?

I have put the original home button back in and my next step is to replace the LCD with the hope that I can use the original button.

What cable controls the home button functions? - I wanted to double-check, is it the LCD that should be replaced, or a different flex cable? What do you think?

Thanks in advance.

iPhone 7: No audio or audio controls on prior work

I have received an iPhone 7 that has been worked on before (badly). The faults were two fold, the first was no rear camera, this was the LDO near the Wifi IC which has been repaired by a previous tech. This tech also did an audio IC repair but has made a bit of a mash of it. ALL of the Pads along the top edge are missing. I have jumpered these are ALL of the diode readings are good without the IC on. I have replaced the Audio IC 3 times with new chips and still the problem exists. I have also replaced the speaker AMP next to tristar and the all diiode readings are good too.

The problem is there is no audio, no mic input from the voice memo app and the volume buttons do nothing. Also there are no sw volume controls. I have also restored IOS twice.

I am thinking that something is screwing with the I2S bus and before I start replacing the other amps and Maggie (which I have never had to do before) I was wondering if there are any other suggestions? All other features of the device seem to be working fine. (Oh and I have tried a different housing as well, so the fault is on the logic board

iPhone 7: iPhone 7 Stuck in Boot Loop

Hello there,

I have an iPhone 7 thats stuck in a boot loop after replacing the lightning cable. The phone has had some problems before so I’ve done past repairs such as a screen replacement and battery replacement. At some point the home button stopped working so it was used with assistive touch and it still worked. Eventually it stopped charging, so I replace the lightning port, first time it doesn’t charge so I return it and order a new one and install it, finally it starts charging again but is immediately stuck in a boot loop. First thing I try is replacing the battery with the old original Apple one it used to have, that didn’t work so I ordered a new battery and tried it but it still didn’t fix it. Would the issue be caused by some malfunctioning component such as the no working home button (despite the phone booting fine while it didn’t work before)? Or is the board dead? Could it be the new lightning port that I installed thats causing the problem? Any ideas?

Thanks

iPhone 7: Where do I get this element from? (No backlight - motherboard issue)

Hi, I f*cked up.

I bought a supposedly dead IPhone 7, after some investigation i found out that it works just fine, but there’s no backlight. So of course like an idiot I bought a new screen without checking if any of the screen connectors are shorted. After installing the new screen and feeling like a big dum dum for a few minutes I found out that this connector is shorted

and after checking where could lie the problem i found this component

on the other side of the board. Now I don’t have a clue where i could find a component matching this one and even if I had the access to a similar one I have no clue what to search for, is it a resistor or a capacitor or a chip of some sort i have no idea (don’t flood me with some technical terms I barely even started to learn all of it). To anyone offering assistance I would be very grateful.

Edit:

I think I found what it’s called

So I think I found the issue.

This little guy FL3903 is shorted (both sides show an open line to TP0410 while only one side has to have an open line there, I think …). I think it can be caused by a bad U3701 chip or a bad FL3903 chip. I don’t know how to check which one it is but I’m betting on the U3701 chip because there’s a lot of tutorials on the internet for how to replace them.

iPhone 7: iPhone 7 self-service/repair plan.

Hi. I have an iphone 7 that i purchased in 2017 and I am searching the cost effectiveness of a self-service versus an authorized service provider. The phone is in satisfactory shape, but it needs a battery replacement and what seems to be a rear camera glass replacement from an accident some months ago, assuming the sensor is not affected by it (after the accident it was cleaned thoroughly and protected by some scotch tape…please don’t judge). I’ve also noticed that the earpiece speaker sometimes does not function properly, but it is not much of an issue since i seldom use my phone without earphones. I was thinking to go to an authorized service provider for a fix, but i don’t think that it is worth it, since I am intend to purchase a new device in mid October. I am a newbie in this whole ifixit thing, so i was wandering first of all if the phone is worth bothering with and if so, whether someone could help me with the parts and kits required for the fix. To sum up the problems are three:

Battery replacement

Rear camera glass (possibly and sensor)

Earpiece speaker

My budget is around 150 euros, with a 10-15% margin.
