iPhone 6s: iPhone 6s liquid damage solutions

The iPhone was accidentally washed in a washer machine for 5-10 minutes, it was immediately taken out, wiped and then put in rice for two days. Now it will not turn on so I replaced the battery and charging port and it still doesn’t turn on. The LCD seems to have signs of short circuit but my question is does that matter?

If I plug the phone into a computer, shouldn’t it at least detect the phone even if the LCD does not work?

What are some other issues I should look into/replace? What could be something else that is wrong with the device and any suggestions on solutions?

I have an iPhone 6s (no water damage) with Vcc main Short.I find the short capacitor c2330 with Freeze Spray and short gone away.

I try to turn one the phone, DCPS show 0,01 to 0,07 amps, and phone doesn’t turn on.

I tro to change tristar and tigris but the problem is same.

Nand voltages are ok

The strange thing is : when I connect USB cable, I have 5 volt on PP5V USB RAIL and also in TIGRIS PMID RAIL.

The capacitor are not connected between them, if I test with multimeter.

I put out the IC and check the voltage under IC ON F5 PAD, The voltage is ZERO.

And regularlay have 5 volt on VBUS PADS, but when put the ic the voltage came back on TIGRIS PMID rail.

Any suggestion guys?

iPhone 6s: iPhone 6S Replacement Screen and Battery Not Working

I replaced the battery and screen on an iPhone 6S for a friend. She ordered the parts off of eBay. She said that even though the screen was cracked, the LCD still worked. I first disconnected the battery and swapped it out. When I went to turn it back on, it made the noise like it recognized the charger, but the screen was totally black.

When I swapped to the new screen, it had the same problem. The battery says that it has the same voltage as the OEM battery, but it was supposed to be 2200 mAh, as opposed to the standard 1715. I checked the connectors and they don’t appear to be damaged. Also, it is still able to receive texts. Every once in a while the phone screen will flash when it is turned on. I have changed a lot of screens in the past and have never seen this issue. Does anyone know what it may be?

Hi, I received an iPhone 6S from a customer that said that their screen and battery need replacing. I replaced both of those but when you turn the phone on it boot loops. I plugged it into a USB ammeter and I’m getting 5V and 0.25 amps being drawn when not turned on which looks like it’s charging the battery but when you turn it on it boots but doesn’t charge. It drops to 0 amps when booting and the CPU area gets slightly hot but stops when booted. When not plugged into a charging cable and boot looping the CPU area gets really hot.

Ok so I’m having this really weird thing going on with my iPhone 6s. I recently changed iPhone shells from one back to another. After I did that, the phone worked perfectly except for one problem. There was no service. So I decided to switch back to my old casing to see if the new one was the problem. But is still didn’t work. The weird thing is that when there is no sim card in the phone, it still says no service. My guess is that this a hardware issue with one of the antennas but I am not sure. Let me know if you guys have any fix’s for this problem and what and where the antenna is that I should check on. Thanks!

iPhone 6s: Digitizer doesn’t work after replacement. Need to restart to work

I can use iphone for a few minutes. Then when I inlock it I need to restart it, sometimes. Otherwise the screen won’t respond. The problem only appeared after a screen change. How do I solve it? Thanks

Hi I have a 6s that I was recently given by a freind. The phone has a smashed screen that doesnt do anything. it initially appears dead but will appear in itunes and I can call the phone and hear it ringing on another phone.

It wont vibrate when called or mute switch toggled. power button doesn’t work so will only power up when it is plugged in. I cannot answer a call through a headset nor hear anything.

Im considering buying the parts to fix the phone but is there any chance that there is something wrong with the logic board to stop all these functions from working?

iPhone 6s: Charges fine with new semi-charged battery, but doesnt when depleted

Symptoms include:

1. a brand new battery discharging like crazy. 50%>0% in like 2 hours while idling at the lock screen after boot, with all connectivity turned off except mobile data. while the screen is asleep.

2. unusual and somewhat alarming heat build up somewhere under the shield closest to the display connectors. top or bottom side, i am unsure. but not hot enough to trigger the temperature warning.

the phone is still capable of charging a battery when a semi-charged battery is installed. and it does so, seemingly without issue. however, when you let it die, it DIES. it displayed the dead battery symbol for maybe 30 seconds and then it never came back on its own. connecting it to a charger does not bring it back to life at that point. the phone wont detect the cable. its almost like theres not even a battery in it.

i have tried:

1. new batteries

2. new charge ports

3. attempted to get a power reading with this little charge port tester thing that i have. it shows 5.13V and 0.08A, but i got the same reading on another iphone i know works properly. not sure if my tester is just a piece of garbage or what.

any idea what i might be dealing with? it just seems like theres something bad on the board causing the battery to drain like crazy. im not really all that knowledgeable about board level repairs.

iPhone 6s: iPhone is not powering on but is recognized in itunes

HI there, I have an iphone 6s that doesn’t power on but is recognized on iTunes. i have checked the display cables and even outright replaced the screen but it still isn’t working, nor is the vibration working. i already did a dfu restore but it didn’t work. does anyone have any advice on what I should do? I removed the capacitor on the 5v7 (i think that is what it's called) line for the display, and it came right back on! But I have a question, do I need to put a new capacitor on there? Or will the phone be ok?

iPhone 6s: Dropped in water, works fine but problems w/ screen & rear camera

Yesterday I dropped my iPhone 6S in a toilet while I was at a restaurant (let’s not ask any questions) and I obviously did not have any rice on me, so I wrapped it in a paper towel and put it in my pocket for the couple hours I was there and left it. It kept turning on on it’s own because I picked it up, but other than that it was fine and there were no major problems other than it being wet, but I tried to dry it off with my shirt. (Also, I picked it up right when I realized that it was my phone that had dropped and it was only in there for a couple of seconds.

Fast forward to when I got home, I immediately put the phone in rice and a ziplock bag and left it overnight and through the day. It was in there for probably 22 hours.

When I took it out a couple of hours ago, I noticed that the front camera was fine, however the back camera is full of water vapour and very blurry, which I will insert a picture at the end. Just a few minutes ago, I was using my phone and I noticed in the top left hand corner there are a couple of weird boxes (I don’t know how to explain) which I know for a fact aren’t normal and they won’t go away.

I don’t know if this is important, but I have a small crack in the screen in one of the top corners of my phone. I’m thinking water may have gone in through there as it was having a bath in the public toilet. I’m not too concerned about it, I am pretty hopeful it will still work after, despite all of the issues. I plan on getting a new phone as soon as I can, worst case scenario I have to pay to get it fixed or just use my old 5S. (yuck)

Anyways, sorry for the whole essay. I tried to be as detailed as I could so that I can get the best answer possible. If you’ve read this far, thank you!! Here are the pictures:

The first image is what I think is water vapour INSIDE the back camera, the second picture is the weird boxes on my screen that just appeared.

iPhone 6s: Looking for self battery replacement advice

I have an iPhone 6s with a battery at 77%, but still in "peak performance". Further down the battery health page it says "your battery's health is significantly degraded". I do notice a significant decrease in usable time so I'm planning to replace the battery myself, doesn't seem too bad. Just a few questions:

Detach battery cable first before anything else, and attach battery cable last after everything else, right?
Not planning to take off the display, just gonna find my iPhone box to "rubber band" it at 90°, feasible?
Looks like there's adhesive around the screen, do I need to put new adhesive when I put the screen back?
What capacity should I get? The original 1715 or can I go something higher? Say around 2000
Any battery brand that you recommend?

iPhone 6s: broke signal wire on iPhone

i was trying to reset the battery my unplugging then plugging in but I thought it was what i think is the signal connector and I ripped it out of the plug. It is the small circular connector right below the battery connector with a thin wire that is soldered to the lightning assembly thing. Can I buy a new wire somewhere or solder it back into the connector. I ripped it out the wire didn’t break.

iPhone 6s: Screw left in phone after screen replacement

So, I went thru this very detailed (excellent video) on iphone 6s screen replacement and did nearly everything right - almost. Somehow a screw got left in the phone and I closed it up. Then I noticed the right lower corner near home button isn’t flush with the body. So I opened it up again the next day, and found a heat shield screw standing vertically on it’s head on the battery. It left a visible head imprint on the battery cover, but other than that the battery seems intact, no cracks, no tears, no exposed metal.

My question is, is it safe to continue using the phone, especially with the the little gap in the phone body? Can I just put a drop of epoxy on the battery cover to make sure it’s intact? Can I fix the LCD cover not aligning? I imagine, the screw must have caused some warp, because I can’t imagine that much space between the battery and the heat shield.

Hi - ill be brief. Customers iphone 6S woke up next to it didnt turn on. I replaced battery and charge port several times and see not charge getting through. However when phone is off and plug in charger it will boot. Thinking board level issue ie tristar. Any other ideas ?

iPhone 6s: Help! Fell into pool w/ iPhone in pocket, now no backlight.

I recently fell into the shallow end of my saltwater swimming pool with my iPhone 6S (A1688) in my pocket. I stood up and got it out in probably about 5 seconds, turned it off and wiped it off with a towel and then immediately buried it in a bowl of rice for probably an hour while I researched the best way to handle the situation. Within an hour, I took it out of the rice (not the best solution, apparently) opened it up, removed a very small amount of visible water on the surface of the 2 large IC chips and then surrounded it top, bottom, and sides with silica gel packets, put it in the microwave (don’t worry, I didn’t turn it on) with a small fan directed at it and closed the door almost all the way. This kept the light on, which generated a little heat and warmed up the inside of the microwave and also allowed air to circulate to help remove moisture. I left it like this for 2 full days and then inspected it closely. I only found a small amount of apparent corrosion on a couple of the contacts on the lower digitizer cable connector. I cleaned these contacts with Caig DeoxIT D5 and then tested the phone. When I turned it on, I could barely see the Apple logo only if I held it under a light source. Other than that it appeared to work, making all the appropriate noises indicating push notices, text messages, incoming calls, etc., just no backlight to light up the screen.

Is there a likely fix for this that I can do, or would it require microsoldering? Any idea what it might cost? If needed, what’s the best way to find a competent repair person in my area (Pasadena, CA) who could fix this problem?

iPhone 6s: iPhone wont charge with original cable and its discharging very fast

So I bought iPhone which came with original battery that said it had 80% health but I could use it maximum 30 min and replaced it with replacement battery but life on this battery isnt very good either. If I leave disconnected from charger at night in the morning its dead so even when its not doing anything its discharging. When the battery drops below 25% its start to lag and its unusable actually and sometimes this percentage at when its starts to lag varys, also now it lags when it has 60%. Does anybody know what could it be?

iPhone 6s: Baseband IC (MDM9635M) chip has a short under the chip

I phone 6s, baseband IC (MDM9635M) has a short undernieth and so I remove and cleaned but a few pads got removed. I tried to re ball it but on my ZXW Tool says done off those pads are needed.

the phone is cleared and restored to factory settings and unlocked.

I see that they sell the baseband on EBay so I bought a new one.

So after reading tips on here, they say you can’t just replace the baseband, why do they sell them or make them if they can’t not be used, or can I?

Im confused please help!

iPhone 6s: Post-screen replacement, iPhone 6s will not charge beyond 1%

I recently replaced the screen of an iPhone 6s that hasn’t been charged since last June. It turns on when I plug it in, and the screen works fine, but my battery never charges above 1%—and my phone quickly dies when I unplug it. Do you have any idea what might be wrong or how I can fix it? Thanks!
