iPad Mini: Ipad mini Backlight comes on briefly at power on then shuts off

So I have this iPad Mini with the well known no backlight problem. In this case, the backlight comes on fine while the unit is charging, but as soon as it begins the boot process, it goes dark.

I'm wondering what component might be causing this fault. I don't believe it is the fuse because as far as I know, I would see no backlight at all.

What other components could be the culprit? And has anyone seen these particular symptoms before?

Thank you.

iPad 3 4G: Why is my home button not working?

I have an iPad that has slowed down, probably due to batteries being old, but my main concern was the home button. It really doesn’t work correctly. It actually presses and I feel it click, but nothing happens. Single click with an app on the screen doesn’t close the app, double click doesn’t close the app and bring up the other apps open in the background. I took it to Apple and they told me it’s too old to reasonably fix due to cost.

iPad Mini GSM: About older iOS signing...

Well, here is the issue:

I attempted to update it to iOS 9.3.5 and it would not start downloading through settings. So I used iTunes to download it and it now gets stuck at 0% bar under apple logo.

the issue, iOS 9.3.4 (what it was using) is no longer signed by apple. Neither is iOS 9.3.5, which is the latest version it can run. I'm pretty sure that older than iOS 9.3.4 is not signed either.

Now, it is stuck in recovery mode and itunes cannot restore it.

iPad 4 GSM: Ipad 4 not charging and not starting

Dear tech-people,

my Ipad 4's battery has reached 0% two days ago. As usual I attached it to the original charger (with non-original cable) but it would neither charge anything (just stay as in the attached picture) or boot. After inserting the cable and after pressing the power button the attached picture appears on the screen for two seconds but nothing else. It stayed on the charger for around 24h now without any changes.

I have already researched a little and have tried a second cable, charging dock and cleaned the lighting adapter (nothing noticable came out). I also tried the different combinations of pressing the power and home button, but the Ipad would just stay in the state as in the picture.

I have run over this tutorial from 2012: Ipad Dock connector no longer working

Does anyone know if this procedure would be applicable to the Ipad 4 too? Any other ideas?

Thank you a lot for your help!

Best regards

iPad Mini 2: What could cause this strange problem with replacement digitizer?

I have repaired lots of iPads and iPad Minis, but ran into a problem this week that I have never experienced. Despite the fact that I transferred the tape along the bottom of the original digitizer to the new one, as well as all the pieces of tape that go onto the home button flex, I am still seeing issues with "ghost touches" and erratic behavior of the digitizer. I even went so far as to put tape along the edge of the other three sides of the digitizer. No changes. Even when I have the digitizer connected but lifted up and completely away from the frame, it behaves erratically. I have tried three different replacement parts with the exact same results. All parts were confirmed working in a different iPad Mini. Other troubleshooting that was performed includes copious amounts of seating and reseating the digitizer connector and hard resets.

Nothing happened during the repair that makes me believe that I damaged the motherboard, but it seems to me that's the only answer. Anyone else ever experience this or have any advice?

I suppose I should mention that this is the WiFi+4G model, just in case there's something particular about that model that is causing this to happen.

iPad 3 Wi-Fi: Find a part - what is this piece I’m missing from my iPad?

Hi there,

I’ve opened up an iPad 3 to fix it and unfortunately I’ve been stupid and removed a potentially important part. It was stuck down inside the rear housing. It connected with the LCD ribbon I believe, and I rubbed it off thinking it was a piece of sticky glue left in there. The LCD now doesn’t work (I’ve attached it correctly to the motherboard). The piece I removed must have been an inch and a half long, black and connected to the interior of the housing, on the left hand side looking down on it, about halfway down the side. If anyone knows what this is, it’d be much appreciated if you could let me know so I could replace it! Thank you.
