Suzuki FA50 Moped: How to diagnose an electrical problem?

I recently got a 1982 fa50 thats been sitting for at least 3 years. It had been out in the open on its side for who knows how long. I cleaned out gas/oil tanks, new spark plug, new battery, air cleaner, carburetor, changed gear oil, and fixed a petcock problem. It now runs GREAT. Goes super fast and has no problem with leaks, randomly dying on me or anything like that.

HOWEVER the problem now is that the electrical stuff like the turn signal lights and horn etc. aren't working very well. They're just very weak and inconsistent. The speedometer and the tail light aren't working at all. The headlight and brake light work fine but get dim when I put on the turn signal. This was not a problem until after I got it running well. I tried to see if the battery needed charging but the needle on the charger didn't do anything, so I guess it doesn't need to be charged?

Before getting this scooter I was totally new to all this small engine/scooter repair and I have limited experience in electrical maintenance. So any good advice will be helpful. Thanks.

I just purchased an 83 suzuki fa50. It did not come with a battery and am looking to purchase one on the internet. Most of the batteries I find online speak of pouring dangerous battery acid into the battery on a regular basis. I did find one that doesn't require this. But what I really want to know is: how does the battery charge? Do these scooters have alternators?

BMW Motorcycle: Why wont 1985 bmw k100 stay running

have 1985 bmw k100. turn key, hear fuel pump. press starter, bike starts right up, then sputters and dies. then hear fuel pump again, will start right up again, sputter and die. when engine starts, i dont hear fuel pump. I have changed the ECU and the fuel pump relay.

Harley-Davidson: My speedometer light works intermittently

On my 2009 stock dyna streetbob the backing light for the speedometer goes out at cruising rpm. When I let off the throttle and go back to idle rpm the light comes back on. This happens consistently. All other lights, the speedometer, odometer and clock are all working correctly.

1999-2002 Suzuki SV650: hard to start runs fine

The bike is hard to start esp in cool weather. Cranks for a long time with no firing. I have changed the spark plugs but didn't seem to help. Once it starts it runs fine.

1994-2009 Kawasaki Ninja 500: bike dying while riding after a while

hi my bike runs fine idles fine but last week till a couple days ago it drove fine then after twenty of riding it wouldnt accelerate with and and slowly it would bog down and die and wouldn’t start turns over but no start but letting it sit for a while it would start back up two days ago i rode it and it ran fine i rode it for two hours and it didn’t bog down or nothing it ran with no issues yesterday it drove it for four hours and ran fine until i was on my way home and it started bogging down again i replaced the oil and oil filter coolant even tho it’s not overheating spark plugs replaced the petcock new fuel lines new fuel filter new airfilter cleaned out the gas tank fresh gas new battery and a bought a refurbished carb i am totally lost at what it could be my bike is a 2006 kawasaki ninja 250

Suzuki FA50 Moped: 30 years without using

Got a Suzuki FA50 30 years ago, put 900 miles on it and storaged. Few days ago took it out got a new battery put some gas but it wont start.

Any idea?

i see a Suzuki FA50 Moped Teardown, and it's a very good repair manual !

But this Guide don't show how to repair (disassemble, and reassemble) the engine...

Does iFixit Team have a repair manual with pictures ?!

Or an other repair manual for an other Moped (or little Motorcycle) ?

What i'm loocking for is a repair manual of any motor as well made as those of ifixit.com, with picture step by step.

(if it's possible, for a moped for a small money value in order to train myself)

I was given a suzuki shuttle scooter 1982 model. It has been sitting for 30 yrs untouched. When it was parked it ran fine. I am wanting to get it on the road again. What would be the first things to check ?

Vespa: Engine races--idle adjustment stuck? (Doesn't work)

Kawasaki: oil leak from water pump

I have a oil leak coming out of the drain tube from water pump ,thinking it may be coming through seal around water pump shaft , there is no sign of coolant in engine oil this on a Brute force 650 4x4i , 2006

Yamaha Motorcycle: VStar issue please help

I have a 2000 Yamaha VStar 650. I can’t get it to turn over. We have tested everything electrically and found a few things so we replaced the ECU, spark coils, spark plugs, combo relay, inspected stator, tested stator according to manual. Compression was great. Output from the stator was in spec. The trigger wire from coil to ECU has continuity and no grounds.

We are getting weak spark in front cylinder and no spark in the rear cylinder.

Pulse coil has been checked and according to the manual is good.

Probed wire harness as per manual and everything tested good. Killswitch, key switch and kick stand switch we’re all tested and found to be good but we even bypassed them from the circuit.

We have no more hair on our heads now and need help! Lol please!

Motorcycle: My old scooter making a weird noise while accelerating

Hey .. I'm having a problem with my Malaguti Centro Sl 50 2T scooter.. As i'm accelerating quite well after half an hour when it gets warm - makes a weeird noise and dont takes speed anymore so i have to slow down at minimum so i dont hear that noise..Again i try to take some speed but the same weird noise and dont take speed... After i let 15-20min to rest a bit - Than it goes normally until its get warmed and do that again ://...

Dont know is engine or a transmition part ...

Suzuki FA50 Moped: Gas Gauge on tank is leaking underneath

I have 2 1980 Suzuki FA50s and they are both leaking gas BADLY. The leak always stops at a certain point and leaves a small amount of gas in the tank. I decided to pull the tank out to have a look and here's what I found.

The gas gauge, which seems to only exist on the tank in the 1980 models, is leaking from underneath. I don't see any screws or anything that tighten it in place. I shook the small amount of gas around that was inside and saw it leak pretty heavily around the seal on the bottom of the gauge. What can I do to reinforce that seal around the gauge itself?

Any information is greatly appreciated.

2004-2009 Yamaha Vino 125: Vino won't start when it's cold

My 2007 Vino is a cold starter. I try to start it and just turns over and over. Whether I give it throttle or not. I leave it for a while, go back and it will start. Then it starts fine rest of the day. I sometimes go weeks without starting it.

Hi recently purchased 1986 was working fine at first but then it got harder and harder to kickstart it until one day when i kicked it it went all the way around. It ended in the start position! What parts should i buy and how can i fix this?
