Buongiorno a tutti.

Ho un problema con la Asus ROG Ally

Nella zona della scheda madre situata sotto il D-Pad, si è bruciato un chip e manca un piccolo componente (presumibilmente una resistenza o un condensatore SMD).

Qualcuno che ha la stessa scheda madre sotto mano, o che ha accesso agli schemi tecnici (boardview), potrebbe aiutarmi a identificare il chip bruciato e il componente mancante?

It flashes with the tribble os screen and it just disappears and then literally nothing else and the disc drive is trying to spin but it won’t work

It got bent in half by my bike and it still shows the replace/charge battery screen and I can’t get the battery door to open its bend too badly

As title says, plugged the USB and it didn’t charge at all… no light, nothing. I know battery and everything still works since it still manage to boot up and everything when there’s still charge left. Maybe a dead USBC? Any way these can be replaced? Thanks

Greetings! my Playdate works perfectly fine. Although, I have to push the right key on the d-pad a bit more firm than usual. It can be annoying when lighter presses are sometimes irresponsive. Could you guys guide me to gain a fix to the issue? thank you!

Asus ROG Ally: Repairing a dead unit

I brought a Rog ally off eBay with a bios lock on it, my plan for that was to pin directly to the bios chip and flash it. However, upon receiving the device it now has no signs of life.

Upon taking it apart I can see it has been opened before and a bigger battery has been put it.

When inspecting the board I can see any obvious signs of damage but I have noticed that if I disconnect the main ribbon cable from the left joystick board and then plug it into power I now get a red led on the charging light. It stays solid for a few seconds and then flashes. When this happens it draws around 20.12v at 0.010a. when I reconnect the joystick board I get no led.

My first thought is that there is something wrong with the joystick board. I just wanted to see if anyone has had any similar issues before and if they know if the device can still boot if the joysticks are not connected.

I seem to only be able to find the instructions and guides to replace and repair the battery for the original white unit. Is it much different than the X and is there a guide to help you with the X? I kind of need the information soon.

My screen is normal and clear when i turn it on but after a few seconds the lines appear all over the screen.

Asus ROG Ally: USB-C port not charging with power delivery

A few days ago, the usb-c port of my ally had stopped charging with the provided adapter. It still connects (a white LED shows up when connected in sleep mode), but it will not charge it, no matter what side of the usb I used.

Right now it only charges with low power cables, the kind that you would use for phones, and (as far as I know) only works on one side of the cable. Obviously it means that I can't use it and charge at the same time, I'd have to wait about 8-9 hours just for it to charge 60%. Non-charging cables work as well, but again only on one side.

I took the ally to two repair shops, both of which did nothing to fix the problem (thinking the adapter was the problem). I think it has to do with the port itself, or somehow a bios update. I hope this could get fixed soon, I don't want have to return it.

Edit: Thanks to JiYoW (@luunfmr2mlkysbv) for helping me out! The solution is to try and switch the "batter care" on the MyAsus app on and off a couple of times, and also the full-charge mode as well just to be safe. Then fully turn off the ally, plug in the charger, and then turn it back on, Very simple!

I'll keep this question open in case the solution doesn't work for someone else, and if others have others ways to fix this (hopefully without going into too many repair shop beforehand 😅)

I think I need a new USB C. Port fitted into the device. If I wiggle the wire, it will sometimes charge the device. But 9 times out of 10, it will crash the moment I push any. Type of cable into the device, even if it's not connected to anything, I think the soldier has broken at the points where it connects to the mainboard
