Grazie.

Google Pixel 4a: Multi Touch doesn't always work Pixel 4a replacement screen

Hi,

I just replaced the screen of my Google Pixel 4a smartphone. It seemed to be running fine, but from time to time, the multi-touch feature of the screen stops working. I get stuck with single touch capability (one finger a a time). Then, after some time, it starts working again.

Using "developer options", I managed to confirm that the screen only detects one finger (while it detects up to 10 at a time when everything works fine).

It does that during continuous usage session of the phone and screen. It sometimes works fine for several minutes, and sometimes for a few seconds only.

Turning off and on again the display doesn't fix it. Rebooting the phone doesn't fix it. I reset completely the phone by reflashing the official Rom, then another LineageOS Rom, it didn't fix the problem.

What would you try to fix that ?

I fear it comes from a hardware failure. Is there a way to contact iFixIt to get a free replacement screen ?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Google Pixel 4a: How to safely remove replacement screen from packaging

I got a new replacement screen for the Pixel 4a from iFixit. I had removed it from the packaging without breaking it.

The plastic packaging is super sturdy which of course is great. However, I was very uncomfortable removing the screen from it.

On the paper on the outside of the package it says "Pull here to open" but when it is about removing the actual 100 $ brand new screen I feel the packaging is just like "You'll figure it out! ;)"

How am I supposed to pop it out the most safe way? When I was testing it out with my old broken screen I did in fact add another crack to the panel.

Google Pixel 4a: Software limits with new battery

I'm thinking about replacing battery in my pixel 4a since its battery life is terrible after the recent update that treats its battery as almost non-existent. My question is though if these software limitations are going to be reversed once phone detects new battery. I read posts mentioning that phone has to be "unblocked" by Google based on its IMEI. Is that true? Did anyone replace their pixel 4a battery recently?

Google Pixel 4a: Replaced display and USB port, now no sound, no microphone, no camera

Hello, I replaced the USB port due to water ingress and in the act I broke the display. I replaced it too, now the device takes a long time to boot (I did not time it but it's more than ten minutes) and no app can use the camera, the microphone or the speaker. No app can play audio - playback stays stuck at 00:00 - and most apps will not play video due to that. Nothing over bluetooth either. Calls will connect but there is no audio for either party. Vibration does not work. Fingerprint reader works. Wifi and data work.

What can be the cause of that? Is there a single point of failure that could cause it?

About the pogo pins on the board that connect to the back shell, are they only grounding points (except for the obvious parts like the NFC antenna)?

What is the bottom antenna wire for? Mine is pinched and I am wondering if it could be at cause.

Google Pixel 4a: Proximity sensor not working properly after battery replacement

Hello there.

I'm having a problem with proximity sensor reacting to covering after I've replaced battery. The screen hasn't been replaced, just glued back in with precut adhesive stripes. I've checked sensor with Sensor Test app available on Play Store to check if it actually reacts to anything and apparently it does work when i cover it with mirror-like object but not others like it should.

What could be the problem here?

Edit: if it matters when I started unscrewing midframe screws one of it was very lose and when I screwed them back I've tightened that one tighter.

Google Pixel 4a: Brand new phone battery. Not turning on at all.

So i had to replace my phones battery because it began to swell, I got myself a kit and the new battery arrived today. I followed a guide to take apart the phone without a hitch, and removed the old battery and replaced the new one. Put my phone back together and go to try and turn on the phone and nothing. No vibration, no screen light up.

I'm quite confused because the battery is brand new with no damage to the connectors or anything, I plug the phone in to charge it to see if maybe it needs juice or something and it gets warm but still nothing. I'm tempted to buy a new phone battery assuming the one I received is defective, but I wonder if I should just wait and see if the phone eventually turns on. I would absolutely love some expert advice or input. Thank you!
