After weeks of having same problem i finally fixed  mine. i had the issue of when i pressed the gpu button it would restart then i heard clicking sounds and it would reboot a few times then boot with the intel graphics. What i did just then was i went into device manager, and i disabled the intel graphics, then i pressed the gpu button and it actually booted using the Nvidia GPU and was able to instll the nvidia drivers. hope this helps.
