Why does my gamecube's gray analog not respond in-game?

Testo:

Hi so um i wanted to personalize my gamecube controller with another one' shell so i took it off and replaced the upper shell that was black with the bottom part which is orange and when i finished my buttons nor my grey analog stick were not responding at all in-game but they do respond when i'm starting my console.
