TLDR: this is an issue on 2019 and 2020 MacBook Pro devices running Mac OS Catalina. Fools haven’t fixed this even after releasing six updates
Solution:
These are the culprits. Happens randomly even when one of them is on.
1. Turn off dark theme and select light theme
2. Turn off night shift, ambient light sensor and True Tone
3. Change the default wallpaper to a still image(default wallpaper is heavy for their own OS to load!)
4. Change display settings from default to “more space” (or vice versa). The problem happens for one last time and then doesn’t come back provided you don’t change the settings.
Bought a brand new MacBook pro which has this issue. The only reason I bought this device is for its software and now even their software sucks(see Catalina). Disappointed in apple service, customer care who took no extra effort in helping me solve this problem. Trial and error helped.
I like dark theme and need Night shift most of the time but I can’t use them now. it was a pain looking for tools that Catalina supports without breaking anything. Hope they fix this issue In Catalina and not force us to run Big Sur. Never trusting an apple laptop for our business again!
