From my experience with senior customer relations and senior tech support is that Apple, with typical corporate mentality, has denied the problem. Perhaps is only effects a small percentage of users. I did have a 12-inch MacBook which despite multiple repairs and a replacement still had the cursor (insertion point, actually) jumping issue. My 2019 MacBook Air also has the problem. Perhaps the new 16-inch Macbook will be jump-free. But, I’m not spending an hour at the Apple store test-driving, nor $3,000 to find out. The best work around I’ve found is to just turn off ALL gestures for the track pad. The only feature I find useful is Tap-to-Click, which must be turned on in TrackPad preferences. Ironically, this is default on some Windows laptops.
