Hi, had the same problem on my Tab S2 9.7 when changing battery. At last I found that there is a tiny coppersurface switch that is pressed down by the lid. There is a recession for it on the inside of the lid. I put a couple of layers of tiny tape squares on top of the lid, and now all is well. You can test if this is the problem by holding the switch down while starting the tab.
