Plug it into a computer and open up iTunes. Hopefully it does not say it has detected an iPad in recovery mode.
You may be able to get away with just updating the iPad in recovery mode to keep the data without wiping the user data on the iPad otherwise you may need to restore the iPad in the end.
You can either use 3Utools (Windows application) or iTunes to do this.
