I had the same problem as described- my screen crashed, but it worked normally for some time. Then, suddenly it showed me some colourful static images and occasionally lines, plus touch stopped working. I figured it's the crashed LCD, so I've replaced it (whole LCD with digitizer)- still a black screen. Imagine the way I felt when I turned the phone on after a few days without it, like a child who receives a Christmas gift- and still black.

I did some research and found some info on connectors- pushed them hard and well, I got the image back. Unfortunately, it wasn't for good- after a few minutes it disappeared, also the touch was going totally crazy (the ghost syndrome) or didn't work at all. Important thing- I could manipulate the screen by pressing the back of my phone near the letters "u" and "s"- sometimes it worked, sometimes not. I figured (judging by the location where pressing worked) it had to be the USB flex plug, that connects it to the mainboard, so I decided to check it. I've opened up the phone and took off the upper plastic part held with screws- and I've put some pieces of paper in there (on the plug and another place where pressing seemed to affect the screen), then reassembled it, and... voila. It worked. Try it- maybe it'll help You too, You have nothing to lose in the end :)
