Column of touch screen not working.

I cracked my Yoga 13's screen and ordered a replacement screen+digitizer assembly. After I installed my new screen, a portion of the screen does not respond to touch input. The region is a column of approximately 4 inches wide. Is it a faulty touchscreen or could it be a connector problem? Should I try to disconnect the connector and reconnect it?
