I have the Samsung galaxy tab 3 kids edition, had to do this repair once already (about a year ago, one year into use) and now the buttons have busted again... Going to pry the back off to jiggle the ribbon cable and hopefully get a boot up past the battery charging screen... For a kids product you'd think they'd make the tactile buttons durable... They're crap... I even have the official chunky ugly handle case covering the buttons in a jelly case material... Rubbish! Planning on finding a mod that allows booting from the home button... Or automatic boot from battery charging screen... At least then I'll be life proofed against crappy design... This toy should be relavant until my daughter is at least 9 or something and wants something grown up and that has the latest power kick... She's 2.5 and is peeved she can't watch kung fu panda... And now I'm peeved because of course she's made me put it on the TV.... We watched that film like yesterday... 1st world problems...

Update:

Decided in the end to install TWRP custom recovery and root, i added a mod to the playlpm file in /system/bin to make the tablet boot when it its plugged in for 20 seconds... Now I'm guarded against needing the power and volume rockers... (Twrp recovery is fully touch friendly)

Manages to get power button working for now... But it's going to fail again... And now at least I won't be permanently locked out until i stick a replacement flex cable in...
