Second component likely to fail is the TVS Diode (Transient-voltage-suppression diode). It is used to protect the sensitive circuit from overvoltage.

Measure the resistance on the two terminals. Resistance should be infinite.

If component is broken the circuit is shorted. Therefore the component can be removed in order to repair the device. Afterwards the circuit is not protected against overvoltage anymore!
