| [* black] ***Tip: ***For the next step, we advise protecting your work surface during hammering. A wooden/plastic chopping board, or an old piece of wood will work well for this. | |
| [* black] Position the shoe, the installed eyelet halves, and the punch tool together onto the chopping board or wooden block. | |
| [* black] This can be fiddly! Take your time and if the eyelet halves fall out, take care to re-install them back onto the correct sides. | |
| [* black] Keep the eyelet in place by pressing the punch tool. Be careful to place your fingers in a secured position, such as the handle part of the tool (see photos) | |
| - | [* black] Start hammering! The goal is to connect the two halves together securely, but it isn't normally needed to apply lots of force. Use a soft tapping motion with the hammer and after a few taps the two halves should be connected. |
