iPad 3 4G Front Facing Camera Replacement

Replace the front facing camera in your iPad 3 4G.

This guide will help you replace the front facing camera.

Passo 1 Front Facing Camera  ¶ 

Peel back and remove the adhesive tape covering the headphone jack assembly.

  • Peel back and remove the adhesive tape covering the headphone jack assembly.

Passo 2  ¶ 

Remove the single 2.6 mm Phillips #0 securing the camera ribbon cable to the headphone jack assembly.

  • Remove the single 2.6 mm Phillips #0 securing the camera ribbon cable to the headphone jack assembly.

Passo 3  ¶ 

Using the flat end of a spudger, pry the front-facing camera off of its socket on the headphone jack assembly. Without removing the spudger, slide the spudger to the right, releasing the adhesive holding down the camera ribbon cable.

  • Without removing the spudger, slide the spudger to the right, releasing the adhesive holding down the camera ribbon cable.

Passo 4  ¶ 

Using the tip of a spudger, peel back the adhesive securing the camera ribbon cable to the headphone jack assembly. In a similar manner, release the adhesive foam tape securing the camera ribbon cable to the aluminum frame.

Passo 5  ¶ 

Use the flat end of a spudger to pry the camera ribbon cable out of its socket in the plastic antenna housing. Carefully peel the adhesive from the back of the camera, making sure to not tear the metal EMI tape.

Passo 6  ¶ 

Carefully pull the camera out of the iPad, sliding the camera cable through its slot in the aluminum frame. There may still be adhesive remaining on the camera cable. If the adhesive is causing the cable to get caught, use a spudger to remove it or push it aside.
