    • The very top part is glued to the next one below. It has to be carefully cut of or using a very little saw to get it of the part below. Disconnect the connector for the lights and unscrew the four nuts.

I finally took apart my, The Wonderful World of Disney, with the help from this guide and from the comments! Thanks alot. (More helpful than the company I brought it from!) I'll add some comments that might help others!

It was slow and sometimes the trains would stopped but the motor keeps going! Found out the rubber band came off the cog in the gearbox..

Its a little different, On this step i used an air dryer to carefully warm the glue and a thin knife to slowly go around it, its slow going at first then gets better, i didn't want to use saw because of the design..

    • Disconnect the connector for the lights and unscrew the four nuts. The plastic part holding the train and the gear can be removed. Work one level down after the other. After removing the nuts the levels are glued to the next base so the glue needs to be cut or removed as well.

Hi, are all the ornaments glued onto the base in the same way and would you use the same technique for other ornaments to get to the mechanics? We have the ‘to all a good night ‘ house where the sleigh rotates around the top….or used to lol. We would like to repair it if possible but couldn't work out how to get into it? Thanks.

    lynda.knight11 - Replica

Yes, they are all glued and mounted in the same way so just use the same technique to work level by level down to the mechanics which basically is a small gearbox driven by a small motor.

The Wonderful World of Disney with rotating sleigh..

After removing the top, this looks to be different from the picture! You have the metal rod with a plastic tip that holds the sleigh! I couldn't pull the end off, tried heating it, got pliers on it but looks well too super glued! And didn't want to break it, if it comes off for you great, follow the guide but you'll need to cut the wires and rejoin later as theres no connectors inside..

    • View at the very base level with the motor on the left and the gearbox open.

    • Found the problem to be a stuck gearbox which prevented the trains from moving

    • Found problems on the PC board as well. Two transistors were overheated and not working any longer due to blocked gear box.

Once you have it apart and find the problem where do you find parts? ie cogs or transistors, etc???

    Jamie Lacey - Replica

I found them in an electronic shop around the corner. Even though some of the electronic parts can not be identified standard transistors etc. will do. So I just used standard electronics.

I have separated the top part from the layer below but the top part still won’t come of. It is still very firmly attached. There must be something else holding the top on. I have definitely separated the two parts as I can pass my saw in all the way round.

    taybank@btinternet.com - Replica

I found no need for a saw on mine. Taking a small flathead screwdriver you can pry at the base of each cone working around the cone. The glue that holds it will give way. But careful not to pry at the base where the spars attached to each train come out; that is lower than the pry location at bottom of each tree.

I fixed my problem but having issue putting gears back in correct order. Anybody have pictures on how underneath and above gears go?

    Michael Olando - Replica

Hi. Greetings from Australia!! We are trying to repair a bradford exchange tabletop night before christmas house we have recently acquired where the Santa and sleigh no longer rotates. The motor is working but it's not rotating. Trying to get the house off the base but no luck. Glue seems really thick and hard to cut.. Can we ask what you used to cut through the glue? Any advice greatly appreciated would love to get it working. Thank you.

Does anyone have an update on the disassembling of this unit.

We have the Thomas Kinkade Christmas tree and everything works fine for Awhile but after Some time it stops and when i turn it of and on it works Again.

    can Anyone tell me why?

    Tristan Kuiters - Replica

    Hi Trisyan,

You may have solved this now as it's New Years Eve now 2022. Just got my sister's one working again and found original instructions inside it.

Once turned on it will run for 1 hour then turn off automatically. You have to turn off and then on again for another hours run time. So likely yours is working as intended.

    Hello,

I've had the problem with not moving the upper trains and a clicking noise,
so I follwed the instuction (Thanks for that) and found a broken gear in the gearbox of the second stage.
If somebody knows the module of the gears I should be able to print a new gear.

    Regards from germany

    Rainer

Just got a new cord and still doesn’t work. Worked last year

    Barbara Perrizo - Replica

The sticking gearbox for me was at the top of the box. Cleaned massive amounts of glitter out of the entire inside, and used some laBell oil to lube all contact points. I test it as I reassemble and short of some minor repair to the top before I add it back in, it’s all working again. I chipped the top in prying it off, as well as breaking the train between cars to remove it as it had been overglued against the top. Those will glue together with no issues, and I’ll use white modelers putty, then paint and glitter to repair the chip at the base of the top

I have the same Hawthorne Village tree and when purchased it played music with the lights & train in motion; it no longer plays the music when lit with trains in motion. I noticed no music playing on the video on this site. Looking to repair this problem.

Fred Lang - Replica

My Christmas train tree does not run nor is there music nor is there lights you put batteries in and nothing happens. I need help repairing it or someplace to send it to have it repaired the Hawthorne company no longer wants to take responsibility for and yet they continue to sell it

queensgiftsamf - Replica

If nothing at all happens once you put batteries in then I assume that there is a broken connection from batteries to the PC board. The other possible cause is that the PC board itself is the problem. In any case you need to dismantle the tree according to the description because the electronic board is at the very bottom. If you can, check the voltage and the transistors on the PC board.

Is there anyway to stop Santa from squeaking?

Thanks,

I am trying to put the Santa and reindeer on the top of the tree. Could anyone help me with this assemble?

VALERIE BLOUNT - Replica

As far a I remember it is jut being inserted from the top into the little metal rod which you can see in the first picture

Thank you for they guide. Got a similar one with 4x motors. Two motors burnt out, due to the grease drying up. Ordered two motors and hopefully have it working again shortly.

Going to re solder all the points as they all look dry as well.

Thank you for your help guide.

Pidge - Replica

How did you fix the stuck gear box?

K Dog - Replica

In my case one of the gears was just disengaged. So I simply put it back into its original position and locked it there. That was it. If that is not the case I would look for broken parts or try to gently move the gears or aply very little of silicone spray. That may help as well.

Juergen Klute -

Santa and Reindeer do not move around, they are loose, as I can manually move them without any issue . Does everything need to come apart to fix this?

Marsha - Replica

First thing I would try is to gently push Santa and Reindeer down towards the bottom. As far as I remember they just “sit” on top of the metal rod as you can see on the second picture in step one.

If that does not help then the top part has to come off. See step one. Then look for any broken parts and make sure the metal rod in the center is turning “as designed”. In case it is not turning the next level needs to come off to find out why.

I hope this helps.

Juergen Klute -

Have you had any experience with the Thomas Kinkade White Christmas Snowman? I can’t get the train to work. The lights come on in the buildings but no train movement.

Raymond Wooten - Replica

Sorry but I don’t have any experience with that. But from looking at the pictures I assume that there must be a gearbox inside for the train movement. So I would check if the motor is running and the gearbox works as well. Hope that helps.

Juergen Klute -

We just took our Frosty apart due to the train no longer turning. Lights work and you can hear motor turning…just no train movement. We took out the 3 screws on the bottom of the base and found that the belt was broken that makes it turn the gears. To the store tomorrow to see if we can find one the right size. The rubberband we tried didn’t stay on.

pkacres -

Mine is broken, too. It worked wonderful till yesterday, but since today nothing, no light, sound or motion! :(

I opened the second cover on the bottom to inspect the pcb, and the little SOIC8 chip was burned (photo: https://ibb.co/syd0HCp''')''' so that I can’t read the numbers on it anymore.

Can somebody tell me the number or what transistor or IC this is, please??

Adolf Heinrichs - Replica

Sorry, I can not view the photo, link is dead.

Juergen Klute -

Hello Juergen, sorry but I can’t reply directly to your comment.

I don’t know why, but the link has unwanted additions. When you delete everything after “syd0HCp” it will work.

Hope to hear from you.

Adolf Heinrichs -

It looks to me like a 1 channel audio AMP. If you follow the connections on the PCB and it connects to the speaker then it may well be the case.

Juergen Klute -

I don’t know. After plugging in and switching on, nothing happens, totally dead. So I thought it would be this chip, because of the damage.

Please tell me the coding (numbers and letters) on your chip, to order a new one.

Adolf Heinrichs -

I am sorry but I do not have one of those. I fixed some of them in our “Repair Café” and therefore have no example of the PCB to look for the chip print. So it was just a gues that it could be an audio AMP.

Juergen Klute -

What is the voltage of the power supply i need a new one

Tristan Kuiters - Replica

We are looking at a 2010 Bradford Exchange Thomas Kincaide piece with a broken Santa and reindeer topper like the one on this Wonderland Express. Do you know if/where we could get a replacement? Thank you.

Patti - Replica

Everything working but I have no sound ? Any idea how to fix this and what parts control or produces the sound please

quovadisuk - Replica

The sound itself is generated by an IC on the PCB which can not be fixed in case it is broken. From the IC it goes via an little transistor (one channel audio amplifier) to the loudspeaker. So please test the loudspeaker and the audio amplifier for defekts as they can be replaced.

Hope that helps….

Juergen Klute -

Where can I get the Santa Sleigh replacement? I bought the T.K. Christmas tree train at a thrift store and the flying Santa Sleigh is missing. I can’t find anywhere to purchase the part. Can someone help?

Herman Gardner - Replica

Can anyone help me with the switch wiring for my Kinkade Christmas tree.. Somehow my wiring from the back of the switch came disconnected. The wiring under the batteries also. Does anyone have a copy of the wiring diagram. Jim. Jimt1014@yahoo.com

Jim Thompson - Replica

I have had this decoration for years, but the Santa sleigh stopped several years ago. I followed your directions and removed the top. Turns out, the motor that drives the sleigh was locked up. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement motor? I noticed in the comments that user Pidge had ordered some of these motors? Thanks for any help.

Russ Mayo - Replica

Unfortunately, I cannot help regarding replacement part of the motor. However, I wonder if the problem is the motor itself. I suspect that the problem is connected to the gearbox. So you may want try to disassemble, clean and reassemble it. Take a picture of the gears to know how the fit together. Another way is to use a hairdryer and heat up the motor. If it runs again use a tenth of an oil drop to lubricate, let it run for a while and lubricate again. Maybe that helps…. If you can’t replace the motor.

Juergen Klute -

I've fixed the Disney one but now I'm trying to disassemble Winter Wonderland Snowman..

Any help would be appreciated!

I'm unsure if its glued onto the wooded base!

Mark - Replica

anyone know of a source for the gears for the tree?

Frank Ingels - Replica

you may want to try 3 D Print via an 3DP service provider. At least that helped me a few times to replace broken gears.

Juergen Klute -

I’ve a similar problem and suspect the pc board.

No motion, no lights and no sound.

However, in one of the ‘on’ switch positions you can hear faint white noise coming from the speaker. Volume control has no effect.

Can anyone confirm that the pc board would control all aspects and therefore the likely cause of the fault. And any solutions?

I’m not competent at component level so is the battery/electronics assembly available as plug n play spares?

Thanks

Mark

I have the ‘Home for Christmas’ model & the train not moving round anymore. Sometimes it will go round although rather slowly but then stops. I cannot see any screws to take out to take it apart? Any ideas please? I have cleaned the track with WD40

Michelle Donovan - Replica

That was simular how my Disney went like! Motor runing, train slow, then justs stops, but motor is still going! Its was the rubber band that come off the main cog, (probably from stacking the boxes away after xmas or the kids helping the trains!) it was stopping because of bits of chewed rubber in the gear box…

*i found a blurry pic on ebay!

Have a look around the 3rd branch down, under the overhang of branch and snow you might see the glue or gap in the paint!

Mark -

I plug it in turn on but it won't work do I need the battery to operate with the plug on?
