Usando le pinzette, separa il nastro adesivo dal connettore dell'alimentazione. Se la nuova batteria lo ha già, rimuovilo del tutto, altrimenti rimuovilo e fanne aderire un angolo ad una superficie pulita per riutilizzarlo.

Dopo aver separato l'adesivo e scollegato il connettore, rimuovi la batteria originale dal dispositivo.
One step missing…. the end of the orange power connector (the end not attached to the battery) clips into a little socket which is barely visible. You can tell when it clips in by the feel and sound. Make sure that when you put the new battery in, you first clip the connector in before you stick the tape down.

Also, folks should be aware that the battery you get from iFixIt might come fully discharged. So if your Oasis doesn’t power-on immediately (or do anything at all) after replacing the battery, don’t despair! Plug it in, let it charge for a while, and see if it comes back to life. Mine did (after I had taken it apart twice, reseated the battery and then assumed it was dead and ordered a new one from Amazon). Sigh!

That is not the right battery. It doesn’t even look like the one in the pictures above.
That is a Kindle 8 battery, not an Oasis 8th Gen battery.
The battery you linked is NOT made for the Kindle Oasis, which is what this guide is for.
This is not the right battery for the device.
Careful, this is not the right battery - at least not the internal battery of the Oasis 2016.

Did you find one? I got mine on Amazon with a little kit for about $30. It seems to be working.
Is the Kindle Oasis likely to still be waterproof after battery replacement? I can sense a bit of a gap in the plastic where I dug it open.
I don't think the original Oasis was ever waterproof.

I contacted Amazon and they could not provide me with either an Amazon link or a third party and when I sent them your link they told me to order it and that they would reimburse me the postage cost.
I asked them to give that to me in writing and they did, but I am a bit iffy about dropping $AU230 and praying that they keep up their end of the bargain.

How about kindle oasis 2/3 replacement battery ?
I used this to change my kindle battery. Very helpful. I wasn't able to open the case with th plastic pry tool. After trying and not getting anywhere, I resorted to a very small flat screwdriver. This worked! Used the plastic tool the rest of the way.

It would be really helpful if you could show more detail on how the backing is attached to the device, what the latching mechanism looks like in detail, and how to separate it. The technique in the photos might work on a device that has been opened a hundred times before, but on a new one, this guide doesn’t really help me to understand how to open the device.

I couldn't get the back cover off with the tool for the life of me. I wound up using a small flathead screwdriver and gently rubber hammering it in at an angle near the lower left of the raised panel, where it appears there aren't any components to damage. Once one clip is off the rest come off pretty easy with the tool.
