Introduzione

This is just a look into the Samsung gear S2.

    • You will need a Y 00 screwdriver, a PH 0 screwdriver, a spudger, and some tweezers.

  2. Detach your bands from the body of the watch. Remove the four Y 00 screws.

  3. Pry between the bottom and top portions of the watch with a spudger in the area marked. Be sure not to insert the spudger more than about 3 mm so as not to damage the internals of the watch. Also, there is a seal inside the watch that goes along the perimeter inside the bottom of the casing. Be sure not to damage this, otherwise you lose water resistance. Make sure that you do not insert the spudger in any other location than the one that is marked in green.

What’s the name of that coil assembly that is located with inside the watch that wirelessly charges it’s battery?

    Keith Wucherer - Replica

Please add how hard you should press into the watch, I've used 4 different tools now and this case refuses to open.

  4. Unscrew the two PH 00 screws. Gently pry up the three cables with a spudger that I have marked.

  5. We will now be separating the main board from the watch. You will be gently prying up on the main board in the area that the spudger is located in the second picture. Be extremely careful while prying up on the main board. Be careful not to bend the board and make sure all cables that are loose are out of the way of possibly getting ripped.

    • Do not fully remove the main board, as the button cable is soldered to the main board. Carefully place the main board in the orientation shown.

  6. Only pry in the spot marked in orange. be patient, as this prying will take some time. Make sure that the cable marked in green can feed through its gap. If the cable marked in green is not properly aligned, it can rip. Ripping any cables is not good.

Thank you for a picture of the internals. I'm thinking about "restoring" a Gear S2 classic.

Tom Bowden - Replica

Just updated, sorry about the delay. The guide is now finished.

Austin - Replica

How do I replace the screen? It seems like it’s glued on.

Nick Kaprielian -

Hi Austin, tks for making the guide, How to remove the rotating bezel?

Naga darshan - Replica

This is my own personal watch, so I did not try to remove the bezel. The only way I can think of is by prying up on the bezel from the top. Just be careful as I do not know how or if the bezel is connected to the watch.

Austin - Replica

Im also interested in the bezel, as i might be getting one with a broken ring and was wondering about fixing it.

Jon Borah - Replica

Is the WiFi-only variant or is it cell capable? Wondering if I can swap the board from an AT&T or GSM unlocked S2 Classic into a gold S2 Classic frame cause Samsung doesn't sell cellular models of the gold S2 Classic.

Corom - Replica

Just S2 Classic wifi. I am unsure of any similarities or differences in the S2 cellular vs S2 classic. However, in my experience with phones and music players, the device with cellular capabilities needs to have an additional antenna or two to grab those signals. It is most likely that what you are trying to do will not work.

Hi, I got a Y00 screwdriver to try this, but the point is far too small. Am I missing something?

eandekelly - Replica

Not all bits/ screwdrivers are made to the exact dimensions as another. So my Y00 may be bigger in size than yours. Maybe try a Y0 from the place you ordered, or just buy the 64 bit toolkit. That is what I used in this guide.

Austin -

thanks for the quick response, I'll give the toolkit a try

eandekelly - Replica

Got the toolkit and the Y00 there fitted perfectly.

Replaced the battery and the watch worked because the new battery had a 25% charge.

Unfortunately it still won't charge :(

eandekelly - Replica

Since the battery had a 25% charge, I did a hardware reset and tried again. Now it will charge to 65% - many thanks for the instructions

eandekelly - Replica

You are welcome.

This is an excellent disassembly. Where can I buy the back cover parts for the S2 classic Rose Gold? It is model SM-R732.

rayramirez - Replica

The bezel can be pried off carefully as it’s held on with a plastic ring on the inside but be careful as beneath the bezel are 4 tiny bearings mounted on 4 tiny springs

Bernard McGrath - Replica

Any thoughts on removing / replacing the glass on the back plate? Just the glass circle… can it easily be removed? Is the replacement glass pre-glued? Do you need a special glue (or is superglue enough)? Do you have to remove the back plate to remove the glass? I shattered the glass, so it’s probably going to come off in splinters… and I bought a Y-driver set, so I’m prepared to remove the back plate if needed… Thanks

Scott LaCroix - Replica

Any parts that you need can be obtained from samsungparts.com (authorized original parts distributor). It is a little difficult to navigate the site, but just use common sense and you should be fine. This is the link to the battery. Model SM-R732. I would use a silicone type glue to secure the glass as that would be water resistant. Do please remove the back to replace the glass, as it is fairly simple to do and you don’t want glass shards loose in your watch.

Short of the exercise of taking the S2 apart, is there any planned benefit, like replacing the battery?  If so, from where can a battery be obtained??  [mailto:ronkriel@earthlink.net|ronkriel@earthlink.net].  BTW, I have your (IFIXIT) 128 bit Universal Bit Kit, and the smallest “Y” bit is a zero.  It is too big.  TTFN, Ron

RonKriel - Replica

I was not using the 128 bit universal kit from Ifixit, I was using the 64 bit kit from Ifixit. You can always check the description of the kit to see what bits it includes before ordering.

rickeraustin -

Do you know where to buy the waterproof seal mine came unglued

Eric Petersen - Replica

How is the vibration motor attached? It sells for like $10 but doesn't appear to be easily replaceable as per these photos and none of the parts sites give any better indicators or instructions.

cdantonio - Replica

So this model doesn’t have a sim card?

Antonio Acosta - Replica

Anyone know where I can purchase that flat woven copper wire that is located at the bottom section of my Samsung Gear 2S watch? I need to replace mine.
