If your RIDGID Belt Sander R2740 is making abnormal sounds the cause could be from a worn or damaged ball bearing. This guide will teach you how to replace the ball bearing. For this guide, you will need a screwdriver with a T20 head and a hammer.

Orient the belt sander so that the AirGuard Technology logo is facing you.
Remove the nine 19mm, two 51mm and one 32 mm screws that hold the cover into place.
Remove the cover from the belt sander.
Make sure you remember the correct placement of each screw.

You may need to wiggle the assembly armature to remove it from the belt sander.

Use a hammer to pry the ball bearing from the assembly armature.
