This guide walks you through the process of replacing a cracked display of a Nokia 3.1 smartphone. You will need some patience while removing the back cover as it might be hard to open it up at first. Also disassembling the display itself needs some patience as you will need to heat it up.

  1. First, remove the SIM and SD card trays.

    • Now remove the logic board by slowly wiggling it up. There are no screws used to attached it to the case. Only an adhesive strip on its back holds it in place.

  7. Before trying to disassemble the display you need to heat it up to loosen the adhesive that holds it in place. Hint: There is much less glue at the sides of the display compared to the top and bottom. So start on the sides to get under the display.

    • Use a flat tool like a razor blade to get under the display. Slowly loosen up the sides by cutting through the heated up adhesive.

    • Especially after getting under the display initially with the razor blade a slightly thicker tool like a plastic card might be worth a try. When loosening up the top and bottom of the display you will need patience and a plastic card won't damage the plastic frame as much.
