Leave the Zippo out without its casing in a well ventilated space to speed up fuel evaporation.

Begin replacing the cotton, placing the last piece you pulled out in first and doing your best to replace them in the same position they were in before.
-
As you replace the cotton, weave the wick around each piece. This allows more wick to be inside the lighter, increasing its fuel capacity.

Be sure your work area is clear of any flammable liquids after you finish this replacement.

The wick won't go into that tiny little hole so easily. It won't even get started enough to pull it through the other end. Trying to get it in there, frazzles the end of the wick which further makes it impossible to get it into the hole.
Can't u just pull it up to get fresh wick?Call
On a Zippo-style copy I have there is a small screw that holds a spring bearing on the top lever through which the wick passes. The hole in the centre of the screw seems too small for the standard Zippo wick to pass through. Does anybody know if a smaller diameter wick is available?
