Crocs and other plastic slip-on shoes have been popular for what feels like forever. Don’t let one tear turn your favorite shoes into garbage. Repair a common tear on your plastic shoe strap and bring your Crocs back to life.

This repair uses common household items that most of us have lying around. Be sure to use glue designed for bonding plastics, preferably waterproof. As long as your shoe only has tears, strong glue will work well to unite the material once again. If any portion of the strap material is missing, this won't be the best repair guide for your shoe.

Before you begin this repair, make sure to have proper personal protective gear to protect your skin from any strong glue that would bond it instantly, like super glue. If using epoxy or resin-type adhesive, be sure to work in a well-ventilated space.

Use rubbing alcohol and a paper towel to clean the surface of the shoe where the repair will be done.

Prep the surface of the shoe with a few passes of sandpaper.
This will make the surface porous and allow the glue to make a stronger hold.
Give the repair location a second cleaning with rubbing alcohol to remove any debris from sanding.

Protect the rest of the shoe from glue spill with a paper towel or parchment paper.
Because the glue bonds to skin quickly, put on gloves for the next steps.

Apply glue in between any lower cracks in the shoe plastic. Leave the top tear open for the strap button to go through again in the next step.
Allow the glue to set up for at least an hour.

With the bottom of the tear secured, carefully insert the strap button through the top of the tear.
The top of the tear will be glued only once the strap is secured.

With gloves on, apply glue in the upper tear. Make sure not to get glue on the strap- it still needs to be able to rotate.
Allow the glue to dry to the specifications of package instructions before wearing.
