Replacing easy.

BUT. Can it be repaired? Someone real experience with it?

PS. Of course only as no physical damage from outside and all 4 ink chambers (1) still sealed properly and (2) never have run empty

DOES NOT WORK!!! I’ve tried ever remedy available. There is NO solution to this problem. If you do get it working, the error message will return shortly afterwards. I believe HP knew of this problem and deliberately chose not to find a remedy….thus class action. Frustrating. I’ve been told that it is designed for printers to fail now with a life expectancy of 3 years. And, I believe it. My printer is 3 years old. If you have this error message, you might as well throw it away. I’ve read other who had this issue purchased new print head, new cartridges, and nothing worked. HP is not the company they use to be. And, the new printers are not the same quality. Frustrating.

Followed the steps to a”T" and did not correct the issue. The printer was working one day and the next the missing printer error appeared.

The cartridge does not move to the left when I open the lid. It seems to be stuck. What can I do?

Worked on this for hours today. The printer was working yesterday, but came up with error saying printhead undetected, installed improperly, or failed. I uninstalled the ink cartridges, removed the printhead, uninstalled software, and was about to give up after trying every which way when I read to TRY ROCKING THE PRINTHEAD. It moves back and forth/up down a little bit ON THE CARRIAGE. Then I turned it on and off one more time before heading to best buy and tadah!!!!! It worked. Yay!!! Can’t find where I read that again, but I’ll never forget it!!

Did not work for me after having followed the guidelines.

What do I do next to get the printer working. How do I tell if I need a new printer head?

These are the same procedures I found on the internet. I also tried them with no success. I weighed my options: 1) buy another HP8620, 2) buy another print head, 3) throw it out and buy another printer. Well, the HP8620 is no longer made, the few I could find were $450. Also, I had new ink in the printer and all new cartridges; about $120 invested. Option 2 seem like a good start, but brand-new U.S. made printer head were almost $200. I did find some for $40 made in China that were new. When it showed up, I installed it and had the same error. Option 3 is now in play! Off to the recycler it goes and maybe I can find someone who can use the ink. My conclusion is the circuitry in the printer itself is bad and not the actual print head.

I have a HP 8610 and a 8620 both is a problem. I replace orig. ink new print head and it still report print heard problem. before that I went through all the process of cleaning the connections of the original electronic connections inside the print heads to no avail the printers do not work. clearing the memory do not help. I will go for Epson six ink tank printer next. I 've had six to seven HP printers its time to discard hp printers forever.
