Face masks have become an essential part of everyday lives. Some have taken to crafting their own cloth face masks. The issue is that they lack stability and are susceptible to forming fog on glasses. A solution to this is adding in a nose bridge made of pipe cleaners! Once done, you will have an extra layer of protection when wearing your cloth mask.
It's best to wash your mask before and after handling to ensure cleanliness.
Lay the mask flat on desired surface.
Optional: Steam mask with a clothing iron to completely flatten and remove wrinkles.
Caution: Never leave the clothing iron unattended. Use caution when ironing as the machine will be hot to the touch.
Measure out the width of your face mask.
Using a pen or pencil, mark the insertion point for the pipe cleaners.
A fabric pencil would be better suited for markings as it can be easily washed off.
Seam rip where the elastic portion is. If there is no elastic present, then seam rip along the top portion of the mask.
Caution: Be mindful of where you place your fingers as it is possible to accidentally jab yourself with the seam ripper.
Consider using a thimble for protection.
Sew around the pipe cleaner using desired stitch.
A basic running stitch is recommended for ease.
Try on the mask to ensure the fit is right. Bend the pipe cleaners to best suit your facial frame.
