Background
The Fairbuds XL (2nd generation) are an updated version of the original Fairbuds XL over-ear headphones rather than a full redesign. The overall construction, modular layout, and repair approach remain unchanged, including the user-replaceable battery located in the left ear cup, removable ear cushions, and modular internal components. Compared to the 1st generation, the 2nd gen focuses on software and tuning updates that affect sound and noise-cancellation performance. Replacement parts are backward compatible with the original model.
Identification
The Fairphone Fairbuds XL can be identified primarily by its unique and accessible design, including the prominent "Fairphone" branding on the outside of the ear cups. There is also a USB Type-C port connecting the individual ear cups together through the headband.
The Fairphone Fairbuds XL comes in two colors: Horizon Black and Forest Green.
